Selling my 2060 for something better. Posted: 04 Oct 2020 05:32 AM PDT Hi, just started mining few days ago with my RTX 2060, and after reading a lot and measuring the hashing speed I realized that will be better to buy or another GPU or change mine. I managed to sell mine and now I have few options: 1. Buy a 5700XT an if possible another one later as they are around 300 eur and they perform well. 2. Buy couple or three 1660 super/ti. Nvidia is my preference as I'm also a password cracker and they perform well and cooler under long periods of hashing, but it's not a must. 3. Wait a few days and buy if possible a 3070. 4. Go and buy a 2080ti. Any suggestions? I know that I'm not gonna make money from mining, just wanna compensate a bit the spending on hardware and support cryptocurrency. Thanks for the opinion . Posted: 04 Oct 2020 05:17 AM PDT I have 5 gpus AMD rx470 4gb connected through extenders to motherboard which I used to mine until for Ethereum was enough 4gb card. Then when that was not possible any more, I set up nicehash and it started mining beam with lolminer, but gpu0 showed very small hash, like 1-2 Mh/s. GPU0 was providing sometimes up to 20% poorer performance for eth mining, but after restart of the claymore it was back up again. It had fake HDMI to RGB converter to simulate monitor. So now I thought, I should use integrated gpu and successfully set it up in motherboard bios to have integrated gpu as main gpu, and from then on, miner is not recognizing GPU0 and is starting without it. I did ddu to remove all drivers, trying to set up one by one gpu and doing ddu before adding new gpu back, but I always end up seeing in device manager 1 integrated gpu and other gpus except gpu0. I tried to install new AMD drivers with just gpu0 connected through extender but driver software is not being able to find any gpus to install the driver for. I thought that maybe extender died for gpu0, I took working one from a friend, and still the same. Now I want to fresh install windows 10 pro because this is driving me crazy. So I am asking, do you know what is going on here? When I decide to formad hdd and put fresh new windows, should I do it with integrated gpu in mb bios or with pcie gpu in mb bios? When should I connect the gpu0 and all other gpus? Whould I connect gpu0 and then install driver, or connect all gpus and then install driver? [link] [comments]
Linux mining without AMDGPU-PRO driver Posted: 04 Oct 2020 01:02 AM PDT Hi guys. I'm wondering if it's possible to mine ETH on Linux with AMD cards and without the closed source AMDGPU-PRO driver. I tried some months ago without success, but maybe something is changed. Thanks in advance for the answers. [link] [comments]
