Let's see how long a BTC transaction with low fees REALLY takes. Posted: 24 Oct 2020 03:05 PM PDT This isn't meant to trash Bitcoin, or the main bitcoin sub. I own and use both BTC and BCH - and I sort of think the two can coexist. BUT you'll pretty frequently read over there that transactions with fees as low as 1sat/byte are completely workable ON THE MAIN CHAIN. The argument is that BCH DOESNT actually have lower fees, because cheap BTC transactions will confirm just fine. (eventually). I wanted to play around with exactly how to define "eventually," so I built a small transaction in electrum. I'll link it below. You'll note lock time was 654079. As i write this post, we are currently on block 654159. I think it will be interesting to see what the height is when the transaction is actually confirmed. Any guesses? What needs to happen for bch to split in next fork? Posted: 24 Oct 2020 08:46 PM PDT abc blocks will be accepted by bchn miners so to split bchn miners need to lock 10 blocks without a abc block in order to lock the chain and split is there other scenarii leading to a split? [link] [comments]

I tried Bitcoin cash for the 1st time Posted: 24 Oct 2020 05:00 PM PDT I went to buy some phone thing and I send the BCH with a 2 sat per byte fee. Its been over an hour. I thought BCH was fast. There hasnt been a block in over an hour; edit. dam that was long it took about 1 hour 20 minutes. I thought I was saving time... [link] [comments]

the environment around the Big Block Movement Posted: 24 Oct 2020 01:57 PM PDT Leading up to 8/1/17, there was perhaps a knowledge among inner circle that there would be the creation of the new coin. The story is that it was collaboration essentially among a couple members of BU. Those seem to suggest BCH would not have happened otherwise. But is there some substantiated sentiment elsewhere (or even in BU) that there would have been a big block coin regardless, ie that if there was uncertainty to that end that other players would have done the necessary to make it happen before Segwit? Or is it true as ABC would tell the story, that here would be no big block coin before Segwit were it not for them? Not that any of this is relevant to what is about to transpire, just wondering what the accurate retelling might look like. [link] [comments]
Giant Foods Store manager turned off coinstar/coinme koisk bitcoin purchasing … because? Posted: 24 Oct 2020 02:09 PM PDT The past few days I was purchasing bitcoins at the Local Giant using the Coinstar /Coinme kiosk, yesterday I did a couple more runs... I think I noticed around my 3rd visit the store manager was looking at me suspiciously.. maybe I cause look nerdy or frustrated or annoyed with the unconfirmed tx =).. anyways I didn't think much about it till this morning when I made another visit to the store to make another purchase, that's when I saw the bitcoin purchasing has been turned off.. so I called the Coinstar Support and was told the store manager had turned off that kiosk bitcoin purchasing.. luckily I was able to drive half a mile away to other Giant and use their kiosk to purchase more bitcoins. So am I being stereotype labeled caused I look nerdy or looked suspicious for visiting too much to buy bitcoins? or because people have labeled cryptocurrency as a scam? is this some type of weird discrimination for buying bitcoin? btw the Constar was on and working.. just part where you can buy bitcoins has been turned off =) [link] [comments]
