Is this a good mining rig to buy? 6 GPU RX 580 8GB Rig Plug and Play Posted: 25 Aug 2020 07:32 AM PDT I found a rig that has a current price of around $955. It's an auction and it ends today. These are the specs: "6 gpu mining rig MSI RX 580 8 GB Mining Rig. Ethereum Miner-175Mh/s. Condition is Used. Rosewill 1200w power supply. ASRock H110 PRO BTC+ Motherboard. Intel Celeron processor. Open air rack. Unit ran for 7 months" I don't mind at all paying a little more for something that is completely read to be plugged in and turned on. I understand a little bit of the current price may reflect that. Overall, is this a good buy? My electricity is dirt cheap, so I'm not concerned about that. I've already tried some of the electricity and currency profit estimations online. The only information I wasn't able to calculate is the difficulty of any block. So, I'm hoping I'm not getting too far ahead of myself, but after spending a few days researching, I thought the power consumption & hashrate was a decent purchase. I figured I could just run it in the basement until my ROI happens. I'll probably use NiceHash or Claymore. [link] [comments]
Will the $1400 3090 be worth the price premium over the $800 3080? Posted: 25 Aug 2020 08:11 AM PDT Assuming the prices are correct will the 3090's 24GB GDDR6X memory and 5248 cores make it worth it over the 3080's 4352 cores and 10GB GDDR6X? It sounds like there may be a 20GB GDDR6X version of the 3080 released just a bit later. Will that be the sweet spot? [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Aug 2020 05:02 PM PDT After a lot of reading on reddit I've planned to set up my first rig CPU+GPU mining (XMR+ETH) :
My max budget is 1300 dollars ( need a rig as optimised as possible with least messing arround with settings bios etc as I'm poor in all this) Pls suggest on setting up a 'plug and play kind of rig' under my budget with minimum breakeven time [link] [comments]
ASRock H110 PRO BTC+ Idle Wattage Posted: 24 Aug 2020 09:11 PM PDT My wall meter is showing around 130 watt when my rig is doing nothing. The CPU is Celeron G3900, memory 2x4GB, PSU is Cooler Master V1200. Is this normal? It seems that it consumed too much power when doing nothing. Is there any tips / tricks? Or should I change some parts or configurations? Thanks. Edit: [link] [comments]
How to mine cryptocurrency as a begginer? Posted: 24 Aug 2020 06:08 PM PDT I have never ever mined, and I have no clue how to do so and the youtube videos are garbages. Do I need to install an app or something like that? I've got a 1650S. Apreciate the help [link] [comments]
Any advice on tracking energy consumption over time? Posted: 24 Aug 2020 10:25 AM PDT I need to track my energy consumption over time so I can figure out my expenses. Are there common strategies/items that work well for this? I will be using a separate building for the project with its own breaker box. I could just track the whole building if that's the simplest solution (Traditional power meter or a sense unit etc..) , but I'd prefer something that tracks just my 1 server chassis for now.
