Posted: 12 Jul 2020 10:31 PM PDT Isn't it obvious? I see all these posts bashing YouTube for not doing anything about these 'scams', but isn't that the whole point of crypto? No regulators? If YouTube must stop an ad from running about crypto, how does it make the distinction between a genuine crypto ad and a scam? Let's say they start doing it and if by chance, they ban a genuine ad about crypto, the narrative is going to change to how big tech is not letting crypto grow organically without its meddling. Now one of the main emphasis of cryptocurrency is privacy, are companies like YouTube supposed to see what transactions are taking place and determine the wrong ones? Of course No. Simply put, when you want something decentralised and unregulated to a large extent, you're going to inevitably have these scammers and con artists. The scams ofc aren't limited to crypto, there used to be the infamous 'Nigerian prince' email scams back in the day but then the government could advise people not to send money and even track these people to punish them. But if Government asks how to use crypto or 'track' anyone's transactions, all hell shall break loose. Crypto enthusiasts need to be mindful of the shortcomings (which are many) and rather than blaming big tech, government or any one else, try and come up with solutions so that it can be adopted and scaled by a larger consumer base. Posted: 13 Jul 2020 02:43 AM PDT I've had Red since it came out, and if you watch a lot of YouTube like I do, it's by far one of the best investments you'll ever make in your life! I can't stand fucking ads, especially the ones that show up if you watch business or cryptocurrency related shit. Quit your bitching, and upgrade your experience my friends... go ad free for life! What are some good exchanges for trading and finding new altcoins? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 08:26 PM PDT I hear that some altcoins are exclusive to some exchanges and that new ones are constantly coming out, but what are some good exchanges to trade and find new ones. I already have a coinbase and binance account. Also, I am based in the United States. [link] [comments] | ||
Declaring trades for US federal tax return? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 04:20 PM PDT I'm going through my taxes in TurboTax and I am asked if I traded crypto in the past year but then no follow up questions regarding dates and amounts. What is the purpose of this question if they aren't asking for more details? If someone hasn't cashed out is it really necessary to answer yes? If anyone has any thoughts or can point me to more resources I would really appreciate it. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
