Topps going full-on Blockchain, bringing NFTs to the masses Posted: 03 Mar 2020 03:42 AM PST After releasing first trading cards featuring cryptocurrencies back in 2018, Topps is now starting to release their first digital collectibles as NFTs. Unlike Paninis joke of Blockchain that right now is nothing more than a closed system running on centralized servers, Topps partnered up with WAX and is launching on a distributed Ledger. Cards will be up for purchase via CC through a fiat gateway and can then be traded at will on secondary marketplaces. To understand why this is huge I would recommend checking out the portfolio of Topps Digital. With Topps Digital, Topps has a nice selection of mobile Apps based on pretty strong IP (Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, WWE, MLB, NHL, ...) with millions of users. Their first release in the coming weeks will feature Garbage Pail Kids with other brands to follow after a successful launch of GPK. This means over time, millions of no-coiners will be transitioned to the WAX Blockchain as their first entry point to crypto. To make this transition as smooth as possible Topps is relying on the WAX Cloud Wallet that allows developers to implement blockchain technology without relying on their users to understand anything about crypto, shifting Blockchain almost completely into the back-end by making external wallet software and key management optional. Over time the WCW will support a variety of other assets and cryptocurrencies through inter-blockchain-communication opening up an entirely new world for those people. The ease of use, the strong underlying IP and the already existing reach and userbase of Topps make this one of the biggest steps toward mass adoption we have seen in the recent past. Posted: 03 Mar 2020 03:06 AM PST What's most interesting about this is that Marshall Islands stated goal is to reduce dependence on the U.S. dollar. The IMF urged them not to move forward with their plan but they've decided to do it anyway and on the Algorand blockchain. To me, this is a sign of things to come. More and more entities and nation states will decouple from the U.S. dollar, as well as other dominant state backed currencies, such as that of China and Russia. Ultimately, I believe there's nothing the legacy financial system can do to stop the inevitable. Eventually, everyone will have exposure to various competing currencies of their choice in a wide-ranging free-market. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Mar 2020 08:21 PM PST I am continuing post my "Crypto of the Day", to help to promote discussion and ideas, and also to help myself and others learn more. Clearly, no one can predict the future, and nothing here should be taken as financial advice. However, I am sure there are some valuable personal opinions out there, and there is definitely an entertainment value in reading stuff like this. Regarding the crypto of the day, Ethereum ETH, I am curious of the following... Currently selling at $230.97. Please post if you have any financial predictions for this project for; the next month, the end of 2020, the end of 2021, the end of 2025. I know most of you avoid this part, and that is fine. It is near impossible to predict how numbers will play out within such a volatile market. What percent of your portfolio is this project currently? What should we all know, good, bad, and indifferent, about this project? It seems people are likely to post the positive in each project, but please remember that critical insight is just as useful. Clearly, this is one of the most accepted crypto out there. I would personally not be surprised if this ends up being the better one long term, over Bitcoin. [link] [comments]

What's The Point of Blockchain Beyond Just Cryptocurrencies? Posted: 03 Mar 2020 04:52 AM PST The focus of the Blockchain technology has clearly been focused around cryptocurrencies and their use. Bitcoin is clearly dominating the blockchain space and it's certainly not surprising that people will focus on its value rather than the technology behind it. There is much more to the blockchain technology than just tokens and coins, AVA Labs is one of the few platforms trying to use the full potential of blockchain. The main goals of AVA is the tokenization of assets and launching customized chains. Asset tokenization has become increasingly popular and it's a way to issue blockchain tokens that represent a real and tradable asset similar to the traditional process of securitization. This provides a number of benefits that expedite the process of buying and selling securities. Tokenizing an asset or backing the value of a token with a real-world asset opens up the potential investor base of that token to a wider market. Additionally, anyone can launch a chain with AVA and can pick between using an existing network or create a brand new one. Users will have a wide variety of options to customize their chain. How to access old wallet using address and private key? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 03:41 PM PST Sorry if this has been asked before, couldn't find anything on a search. A few years ago I bought some crypto and got a MyEtherWallet address and private key, I'd totally forgotten about it til just this morning when I found the details I saved while clearing out old folders. I tried opening it on MyEtherWallet but saw they don't support private keys anymore.... I should take a sec here to say I actually have zero idea what I'm doing, I've never gotten involved with crypto past buying $20 worth on a whim when a new one launched. Can anyone point me to a resource in reaaaaaally simple language lol, for how to access this old wallet? [link] [comments]
Why are there no popular Proof of Stake Coins? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 12:06 PM PST Why are the top coins dominated by Proof of Work blockchains and not Proof of Stake blockchains? Proof of Work is inherently costly, slow and power intensive. Proof of Stake on the other hand is much faster, much cheaper transaction costs, more decentralized since every open wallet is a node, and does not have the same environmental burden as Proof of Work blockchains. Lastly, anyone who simply HODLs the Proof of Stake Currency in an open wallet earns passive income by receiving newly minted coins so this economic model rewards all participants. It's kind of like the US Dollar, but everyone receives the inflated new coins, not just the government! VeriCoin is a long favorite of mine as a proof of stake currency because it benefits from auxiliary proof of work mining to address the only real concern of Proof of Stake, which is that it may not be as secure. What do you think of POS? Is there a project I should check out? [link] [comments] |
