Trying to understand the consensus system

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 02:48 PM PST

I'm trying to understand the XRP concensus system. Nodes have their own UNL of other nodes that they listen to. Doesn't that mean that the network could split into two or more?

Let's say that there are 6 nodes. A B and C listen to each other and D E and F listen to each other but the two groups ignore each other. We now have two groups both ignoring each other. Which one is XRP? Which one is a fork? How is that determined?

Do I need a new wallet after the Gatehub hack?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 01:57 PM PST

If I created a paper wallet on Gatehub and I still have the secret key, am I at risk of the wallet getting hacked? Should I create a new one and transfer?

I saw only the wallet hashes were stolen so I wasn't sure if I'd be safe in leaving it how it is.

    ACH Transfer Solutions

    Posted: 04 Dec 2019 04:46 AM PST

I am interested in learning more about solutions Ripple offers for small US banks, particularly for improvement or replacement of ACH transfers.

This came up when I was at my local bank the other day. I was hoping to be able to consolidate my personal and business banking, currently handled through accounts with multiple institutions across the country that I've opened at various times living in other places.

I have one old business account that I keep open solely because of the ACH feature. For $9.95 per month, it allows me to send any size '1 day' ACH transfers. It isn't free or instant, but it's the fastest and cheapest way to send money from one bank to another that I have available, whether transferring between my own accounts or paying another person. Other solutions, like bill pay, PayPal, Venmo, or Pop Money, take several days to get from bank to bank and most have ridiculously low limits on the amounts you can send. I really don't understand the failure of most banks to offer faster ACH transfers as a standard or even premium feature for all accounts. On the contrary, it's rare to even find it for a fee on business accounts.

Anyway, that's the payment problem I need a solution to in order to close that one old account. The VP I was talking to at my local bank seemed genuinely interested in exploring their options for better payment solutions (currently offering Pop Money for customers). I know Ripple's focus is cross border payments, but does Ripple have anything that addresses domestic transfers? I'd love to be able to introduce him to any options.
