Posted: 06 Dec 2019 12:50 PM PST I'd like to propose a toast to my 5 GPU rig that could pull about 350MH/s on ETH while only drawing 900W. Selling off the GPUs after 2 years of mining. Hand built the frame from aluminum angle and to avoid making any kind of noise while the baby was sleeping, self-tapping screws and a screwdriver were used to assemble. No drilling, no pilot holes, no nothing. Cutting to length was done very slowly in the late hours of the night like I was breaking out of prison. An unnecessarily large green power button sits prominently on top because a mining rig needs a kickass power button, even if you never shut the thing off anyway. Power was provided by a 1500W 80PLUS Titanium PSU with 94% efficiency. Funding was provided from 2017 crypto boom, so it was fitting that crypto was spent to make a machine that makes more crypto! Never achieved full R.O.I. after 2 years but came close, and since the cards retained about 60% of their value from new the endeavor as a whole was at least in the black overall, but not the free money we were all hoping for in early 2018. Happy mining everyone - I already miss it and will likely get back in the game relatively soon, but this time with a more conventional 1 or 2 GPU "gaming PC" style build in an ATX case. -u [address].UNSTOPPABLE -p c=ALL_THE_THINGS exit [link] [comments] | ||
When will (gpu) miners will give up mining? Posted: 06 Dec 2019 03:22 PM PST Hi guys, Quebec, Canada here. Paying around 4 cad (3 usd) a day for electricity. Whattomine showing 5.50 usd a day for my setup (but it's winter here so it helps heat the house lol) When i was earning 20 usd a day i read here people will give up soon. Then i earned 10 usd a day and i thought that was it. Now that i earn around 6 usd a day i still see nothing happening. I dont think asics have overunned all gpus algos (but oh well i know nothing) As we are supposed to have one of the lower electricity rate here in Quebec i wonder what you think about who mines now? 😊 [link] [comments] |
