Istanbul Hard Fork countdown (less then 5 day's to go): Posted: 03 Dec 2019 05:49 AM PST https://etherscan.io/block/countdown/9069000 With the Istanbul fork scheduled for block 9.069.000 (a little over 5 days from now) being right around the corner, it's important we try to get as many nodes as possible updated. According to https://ethernodes.org/istanbul, only ~35% of running Ethereum nodes are Istanbul-ready. Although the most important thing is that a majority of the miners have upgraded their nodes, which seems to be the case, we shouldn't forget to remind everyone that runs a node which isn't Istanbul-ready to upgrade their nodes, to make sure no syncing issues will occur. Here's a list of node versions which are ready for the Istanbul fork:
Harmony/ethereumJ is deprecated and will not support Istanbul. More information on the Istanbul fork: https://blog.ethereum.org/2019/11/20/ethereum-istanbul-upgrade-announcement/ [link] [comments]

I found a ponzi scheme on telegram, help me report it and stay away from it Posted: 03 Dec 2019 12:55 PM PST As the title says i have found a ponzi. here are the links to a bot, a channel and a group chat: (at)BittrexCandyBot The picture is photoshopped around the amount section, and you can check the transaction here on etherscan for yourself. Furthermore the screenshot says "8 mins ago" but the transaction is 5 days old. [link] [comments]

Wanting to understand ETH in general terms Posted: 03 Dec 2019 09:08 AM PST I am hoping somebody can give me a way of understanding ETH in simple/broad terms. I understand Blockchain in the abstract as being a method of storing records, using a network to ensure accuracy and permanency. What is a similar way to describe/think of Ethereum? Could I accurately describe it as... a way of creating secure agreements between computers to distribute/allocate processing power and storage? Kind of... an automated/scripted way of having computers share resources? I often see ETH described as a tool for dealing with money, but if I understand the "root" underlying concept correctly... money management is just one possible application, is that correct? Like in theory you could use it as a way to turn a bunch of computers into a reliable cloud storage network, or cloud processing service... ? [link] [comments]
