    Moving ancient folder

    Posted: 20 Dec 2019 01:40 PM PST

So I copy the ancient folder from my ssd over to an attached hard drive on my node and set the datadir.ancient path but keep getting this error:

"Fatal: Error starting protocol stack: ancient chain segments already extracted, please set --datadir.ancient to the correct path"

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

    Ethereum Stablecoins vs Credit Cards

    Posted: 20 Dec 2019 10:13 AM PST

I've been giving some thought to the idea that if Ethereum could handle as many transactions as Visa, would it better a better solution?

I think it could be a net benefit for buyers and sellers based on the following information:

That said, I still get benefits from using my credit card. On average, as a buyer I receive about 1% to 3% of money spent back as benefits or "points". From what I can tell this just some mental gymnastics played by the credit card companies to tax the seller and shift that money behind the scenes back to the consumer, while pocketing some for themselves. Pretty smart.

    This is what I propose,

    • Sellers accept Stablecoins as payment (DAI, USDC, etc.)
      • Sellers charge 1.4%-2.8% less for all Stablecoin transactions (Wiggle room here)
        • This would be a net profit compared to accepting Visa charges
      • Buyers in essence receive 1.4%-2.8% cash back minus gas cost of transaction
        • This could also be a net profit in comparison to credit card "points"

This is just an idea with some napkin math. Please feel free to call me dumb.

    Failing payments

    Posted: 20 Dec 2019 09:07 AM PST

I have recently opened my first "wallet" and have put a small amount of ethereum on it. Everything worked fine till yesterday, whenever i try to send my ETH to another wallet but the payments are stuck on pending for hours and then the payment will fail. Receiving ETH goes quick and without problems. Anyone knows what the problem is and how i could fix it?
