    Posted: 19 Dec 2019 08:05 PM PST

Thread topics include, but are not limited to:

    • Discussion related to recent events
    • Technical analysis, trading ideas & strategies
    • General questions about altcoins

    Thread guidelines:

    • Be excellent to each other.
    • All regular rules for this subreddit apply, except for number 2. This, and only this, thread is exempt from the requirement that all discussion must relate to bitcoin trading.
    • This is for high quality discussion of altcoins. All shilling or obvious pumping/dumping behavior will result in an immediate one day ban. This is your only warning.
    • No discussion about specific ICOs. Established coins only.

If you're not sure what kind of discussion belongs in this thread, here are some example posts. News, TA, and sentiment analysis are great, too.

BTC vs BCH for a new crypto investor

    Posted: 19 Dec 2019 11:40 PM PST

Friend of mine has been thinking of investing for a long time in crypto. He's happy with the high risk and potential for it to drop 50% or more at some point - he says he's in it for a long(ish) term investment, e.g. won't trade it for a year or more after buying.

After doing some research he has currently decided on Bitcoin Cash as opposed to Bitcoin. I'm trying to convince him to invest in Bitcoin instead. One reason for BTC is that we live in Australia and the major exchanges here don't do a huge amount of BCH volume, BTC is still dominant in terms of volume. His main reason is that (in his view) BCH has more potential upside than bitcoin in terms of price.

If anyone has any other solid arguments for/against BCH it would be great to hear them, thankyou.

P.S. am not trying to start a discussion of Lightning network vs Big blocks or anything here, obviously both coins have different use cases, I'm just thinking purely from a speculation/investment point of view.
