    Posted: 04 Sep 2019 04:55 PM PDT

We've just launched the second version of our "no loss lottery" built on Ethereum today: https://www.pooltogether.us/

It's the same concept as before: buy a ticket for a chance to win, if you don't win get all your money back" but we've made many improvements based on the feedback from V1.

The contracts are open source and have been audited by Quantstamp: https://certificate.quantstamp.com/view/pool-together-2-0

Privacy and Scaling-Focused EIPs Accepted for Ethereum Istanbul Hard Fork

    Posted: 04 Sep 2019 08:47 AM PDT

Great news - EIP-152 and EIP-1108 both were now accepted into Istanbul, the next Ethereum hard fork.

In this blog post Keep Network's Engineering Lead Antonio expands on the benefits of those for the ecosystem.

"One of the most prohibitive aspects with respect to privacy on Ethereum is the high cost of certain encryption operations, and both EIPs took direct aim at reducing this cost. With these changes, Ethereum will unlock new possibilities around random beacons, private token transfers, private computations, and cross-chain interoperability with Zcash, the foremost privacy-protecting digital currency."

Give it a read and let us know what you think in the comments below or in Keep Slack!

Raising the gas limit: How much? What's the impact?

    Posted: 04 Sep 2019 01:46 PM PDT

How much higher can the gas limit be raised? Is the relationship with state size linear? i.e. if we double the gas limit will it double the state growth?

Looking for some info on this topic as it looks like it's up for debate with the miners signaling to raise the limit.

How do I make an ERC777 token (and it's ticker symbol) 'official'?

    Posted: 04 Sep 2019 06:49 AM PDT

I've had what I hope is a reasonably sensible idea for an ERC777-based stablecoin. How do I register the token (and it's ticker symbol) to make it 'official' (much like ETHER and ETH are the 'official' names for Ethereum tokens)?

MakerDAO's Dai Stablecoin has been added to MoonPos

    Posted: 04 Sep 2019 12:55 PM PDT

    Hello, Ethereum community!

I am writing this to tell you that with the newest version, Maker DAO's Dai Stablecoin is supported in MoonPos.

    What is MoonPos?

    moonposapp.com

MoonPos is my attempt to help adoption of crypto by allowing merchants/restaurants/coffee shops/whatever other businesses to accept payments in cryptocurrencies in a simple, intuitive and safe way. We need more businesses to accept payments in cryptocurrencies.

MoonPos allows users to store public addresses and generate QR codes for payments. No private keys are stored, therefore the app is completely safe. MoonPos is not a wallet. A lot of you might agree that many crypto-related apps are not very pleasant to use, they feel like they have been made for engineers (by engineers). My app focuses on a pleasant and intuitive user experience. It is optimized for both smartphones and tablets. Cryptocurrency prices are refreshed often, so they are always up-to-date.

Here is a video of an older version of the app: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDHgMwLAk54

The app is currently available for Android - Play Store link. Along with ETH and Dai it supports BTC, LTC, DASH, PIVX, NANO and Monero. For ETH, BTC, LTC and DASH, it also provides Payment Verification.

    What is Payment Verification?

It is the simplest way how to make sure, that the customer is not cheating. The app uses various REST APIs, to see whether the transaction has appeared on the blockchain.

Why is there no Payment Verification for Dai?

I have not found a simple way how to find out information about ERC20 token transactions associated with ETH addresses. If you know about a REST API, that could do that, let me know, please.

    How much is it?

For now, the app is completely free and there is no subscription, transaction fees, in-app purchases or ads whatsoever. I am trying to get some feedback to see, whether the app makes sense or not.

I would love to hear your feedback. If you like the app, please consider sharing it. There is also an option to donate to support further development. I would like to implement many more things, like:

    • Automatic conversion between a single (primary) cryptocurrency of user's choosing and other cryptocurrencies
    • Lightning Network support
    • iOS version

Is there a minimum amount needed to earn interest on Compound?

    Posted: 04 Sep 2019 01:06 AM PDT

I wanted to try it out but first with a very small eth amount. But after linking MetaMask the Compound interface is still saying 0.000ETH supply balance. Even though my MetaMask is saying otherwise. Do you need a minimum to start lending it?
