    Hey all,

I'm super happy to announce a huge reduction in ticket prices for TruffleCon 2019. Due to the extreme generosity of our sponsors, all tickets are now just one low price: $99.

We're able to do this because the following companies joined us to put on an exceptional developer conference:

    • Microsoft (our host for the event)
    • Quorum
    • Axoni
    • RSK
    • Thundercore
    • Trail of Bits
    • Provable
    • Security Innovation
    • and MythX

We can't thank them enough. In fact, we're so excited, because this helps make blockchain development more accessible for all.

If you don't have a ticket, get 'em here. All tickets are $99, with full access to both the conference and a day of workshops (a quote from last year's event was that "the workshops alone were worth the price", so there's that!).

If you have purchased a ticket, I've got some great news for you. We'll refund you down to the $99 price, no matter what you paid. Again, this is due to our great sponsors who are helping to put on an exciting event.

As the creator of Truffle, this is yet another humbling moment for me. It's awesome to see these companies come through for the betterment of the community, and I'm happy to be a part of it.

Of course, we would love to see you all at TruffleCon. If you need more info about the event, the list of speakers, and a rundown of all the amazing talks, go to the following link: https://www.trufflesuite.com/trufflecon2019

We ❤️ developers. Thanks, as always, and we'll see you there!

Is MakerDAO Ethereum's breakout app of 2018?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2019 02:33 PM PDT

We've all seen how MakerDAO has paved the way for new use cases.

The beauty is no doubt - trustless, simple, non-custodial and easy borrowing against yourself. What's more is that you can get up to 3x leverage.

My question for /r/ethereum would be as follows:

1/ Do you think MakerDAO is the breakout App of 2018, given it has been around for about a year and it has resulted in significant trading activity, has hit several milestones:

2/ Given lending and borrowing being one of the use cases enabled by MakerDAO - What do you see as the next big use case?

Some of the cool things about MakerDAO

    • At one point, Maker hit 2% of ETH Supply locked
    • Over $500m locked currently (roughly)
    • If we were to compare Maker to other lending platforms
      • Maker originated well over $250mn in loans in its first year
        • This is huge as compared to a centralized service (LendingClub) which took 5 years to originate $250mn in loans
    • It is not rent-seeking
      • No central authority making money but rather a foundation of sorts trying to hold the ship together
    • DAI is undoubtedly analogous to Ethereum's native stable token
      • Lots of dapps use DAI
      • Lending and borrowing platforms thrive based on the fact that DAI exists (compound finance, dharma, etc wouldn't be possible without MakerDAO)

Why are gas prices at 20 gwei?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2019 04:17 AM PDT

Yesterday and today again gas prices have jumped to 20 (fast standard and safe low are all 20 gwei on ethgasstation). Yesterday coincided with that internet outage and then dropped back to the usual 2-5 afterwards, but there isn't another outage right now as far as i can tell. Does anyone know what's going on?

    ZCon1: Pegging Zcash to Ethereum

Zooko Wilcox in this video: "By 2020 I think we will actually get pegged sidechain, so there is economic interop between Ethereum and Zcash (and possibly between other blockchains and ZCash). There was a workshop with Matt Luongo and James Prestwich here on that. This is one of my favorite things that we are currently working on."

    Will ETH staking rewards compound?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2019 04:43 PM PDT

I asked this question in r/ethstaker but wasn't able to get a definite answer, hoping someone here will know. So if I run a node with 32 ETH or join a pool, and get a reward of say 0.1 ETH in a month, will the next month's rewards be based off of 32.1 ETH (presuming I leave the rewards in my node/pool), or is it just simple interest that only rewards the initial 32 ETH?

List of charities with ETH donation addresses

    Posted: 25 Jun 2019 05:35 AM PDT

Does anyone have a list of charitable institutions which accept ETH (or actually preferably DAI) donations?

NB - I am not virtue signalling ;-). Was thinking of something like pooltogether but which distributes interest to a charity (which could be determined via a DAO or something similar).

    Ethereum block size
