So I'm in Ljubljana, Slovenia, ready to spend some BCH ! What are the best places?

    Posted: 15 Jun 2019 12:07 AM PDT

A little background, I was alienated from Bitcoin with the small blocks debate and was looking through the altcoins back then, mostly Dash because they increased their blocksize with a simple vote and Ethereum (until they forked because of The DAO).

With Segwit2X I was confused why the agreement wasn't first 2MB blocks, then Segwit, felt like a trap. Then with ABC forking off into Bitcoin Cash I immediately dumped my remaining BTC Satoshi into BCH, the hope was rekindled again.

I kept reading that Slovenia is a great place to spend BCH, so here I am, ready to pay with crypto. I see Elipay has a list of merchants on their webiste but a map would be more useful. (Their app requires me to register for an account, so I immediately deleted it.) Does anyone have recommendations for the best places to spend my BCH?

I haven't used BCH in a while so what wallets do people use these days? I got into Bitcoin for the decentralization / permissionless aspect so I prefer SPV / decentralized wallets over ones that pull the balance from a central server forcing you essentially to trust a 3rd party again.

Thanks for any recommendations, excited to spread some BCH across the city today! (Is the BTC Shopping center actually a Bitcoin shopping center?)

    What is CashShuffle?
CashShuffle is a 100% trustless way to enhance the fungibility of your BCH and add an additional layer of privacy to coins that you send out of your wallet. It's undergone a security audit and has already been successfully used to shuffle more than 65,000 BCH.

If you haven't already, you can start shuffling today by downloading Electron Cash and enabling automatic shuffling by clicking the little icon that looks like a shoe in the bottom (it's actually a stack of cash but when it's small it does look like a shoe).

If you already have tried it, you can also add liquidity to the shuffling pools by going into the Coins tab in Electron Cash and right-clicking and selecting Reshuffle Coin.

You can see how much shuffling is going on by checking out this Real-time stats page.

New SLP Token Allows You to Transact in BTC But With BCH Fees

    Posted: 14 Jun 2019 12:22 PM PDT

Due to the full blocks and high fees, it seems Circle is leaving Bitcoin all together.

SideShift AI has launched a new SLP token called BTC2, which is 1:1 backed with BTC

    Posted: 14 Jun 2019 08:30 AM PDT

Exciting stuff! I just got wind of this (pulled from help.sideshift.ai):

"BTC2 is a token on the Bitcoin Cash blockchain (using SLP technology) that is 1:1 backed by on-chain BTC.

BTC2 shares similarities with USDT. As USDT an IOU for USD where Tether holds the actual USD in their bank, SideShift AI is the custodian of the on-chain BTC and issues the BTC2 token in return.

EARLY ADOPTERS are able to buy 1 BTC2 on SideShift AI for the price of 1 BTC and sell BTC2 to SideShift AI for the price of 1 BTC.

Using BTC2, EARLY ADOPTERS can transact BTC for the same price as BCH."

Used BTC for the first time to buy a video game online and was pleasantly disappointed.

    Posted: 14 Jun 2019 08:17 AM PDT

So I'm gonna preface by saying that a few years ago I purchased small amounts of BTC, BCH, and ETH and I've sat on it since then. I would purchase crypto weekly in small amounts as I had some disposable income. Anyways, earlier today I wanted to buy a game to play with a friend and right now I currently don't have disposable income as readily available as before and I noticed that BTC was a payment method. So I decided to use some of the BTC I've held onto for so long and actually buy something with it as it was originally intended. To my surprise, not only did the transaction take over 20min just to confirm, over 12% of the total costs of the transaction was just miner fees. How can we expect BTC to become a worldwide currency when it's gonna take 20mins to buy your coffee or groceries? How are we gonna deal with 12% miner fees? I never really got into the discussion of wether BTC or BCH was better over another as I wasn't spending it and wasn't planning on it at the time, but it's very clear that BTC is almost unusable as a realistic currency of the future.
