Posted: 14 Jun 2019 05:56 AM PDT Imagine logging into Coinbase, Binance, Bitfinex, Kraken, [insert your exchange] and seeing the following words: "Urgent Announcement - Catastrophic Hack. User funds frozen." New Account Balance: $0.00. If you'd be uncomfortable with that scenario - you need to take action. Today. Not tomorrow. You have 2 options to protect yourself: Option 1: Research how to secure your Bitcoins property, safely. Then secure your private keys (this is a BIG responsibility). If you don't do your research you can accidentally lose your Bitcoins. Ledger or Trezor are popular ways to secure cyrpto. If that's too much responsibility for you - you can always rely on Option 2: Option 2: Re-assess how much money you have invested in something you don't understand. Those are your options. I remember seeing a warning on Reddit exactly like the one I'm posting now... 1 week before the 2016 Bitfinex hack, which, at the time, was one of the most prolific US crypto platforms. 3 days before the hack, because of that warning from a Redditor, I moved all my crypto to a hardware wallet. 3 days later: "Bitfinex accounts are frozen following a Catastrophic hack" Bitcoin lets us be our own bank. So: take action, be your own bank. [link] [comments]
Worlds first live streamed “mouse” racing — Micerace.com — Accepting only Bitcoins as bets! Posted: 14 Jun 2019 09:59 AM PDT Micerace.com is the first real innovation in the gambling industry, since live blackjack online. [link] [comments]
Does anyone else have the same fear as me? Posted: 14 Jun 2019 07:21 PM PDT How are we going to solve the dilemma of confirming BTC transactions between planets due to time delays? I stayed up late last night worrying about my mates on Uranus. [link] [comments]

Looking back Bitfinex and Tether funding was a non-story, but no one ever admitted it Posted: 14 Jun 2019 05:50 PM PDT I'm noticing Tether got their $850m unfrozen, looks like they were 100% or near 100% solvent all along. Today their market cap is higher than ever. Bitfinex was able to handle one of the worst crypto "bank runs" ever as people panicked and withdrew their funds from the exchange. Today, all is well. But the only stories I ever heard were the panic stories against them. I also never heard the follow up stories. This leads me to believe the whole thing was an attack on the crypto community with FUD, right before bitcoin had it's run. I'm never trusting the Tether FUDers again (not that I ever listened to them in the first place). But I'm surprised more people aren't mad about it. [link] [comments]

"The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks" Full Article? Posted: 14 Jun 2019 10:57 AM PDT So. On a perhaps foolish quest to reinvigorate the meaning of Bitcoin, to.. rediscover the reason for its creation I've ended up trying to unveil the full contents of the article time stamped into the Genesis block by Satoshi Nakamoto. That article was the headline quoted on the tittle of this post: "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks" I've found multiple pictures of the news paper its self, including discovering that it is a coveted collectible's item. This picture shows the cover picture, one of Israeli tanks entering the Gaza strip I've also found, a close up of the article it's self on the front page, pretty interesting read, considering it was the article chosen out of all possible articles Satoshi could have chosen to time stamp Bitcoin's birth with. Interesting read, no? At the end of the front page piece of the article it says "Continued on page 6, col 1" and below it "Leading article page 2" Searches for 'full article' have not produced any obvious results so perhaps no one has done this research publicly enough? I'd like to be able to read the full article. Turns out there are a few pay walled archives of The Times news paper. Which paused my quest for now. Here's one link: https://www.gale.com/intl/c/the-times-digital-archive I welcome any help down this rabbit hole. Maybe someone's done some deeper digging that I'm not aware of? Cheers! What Bitcoin related service/website would you like to see, but does not exist? Posted: 15 Jun 2019 01:58 AM PDT I do development as a hobby, have for years. Unfortunately I find myself currently unemployed after losing a pretty good job due to cost of living. I am rattling my brain and have a few ideas for bitcoin-focused websites to create but am wondering what the community would like to see. I was considering an escrow service where users can put up items for sale where funds would only be released once the item is confirmed to be delivered, although I am sure a service like that already exists. So, what would you like to see? I pretty much have all the time in the world to take an idea and try to turn it into something tangible, so I am all ears. [link] [comments]
