Why Banks Will Always Be Needed from A Bitcoin Cash Enthusiast Posted: 03 Jun 2019 04:20 PM PDT I begin this by saying I work at a Bank, ok a Credit Union, which is considered the good guys of the banking industry. The difference between a bank and a credit union is that a credit union is not for profit and a bank is all about profit by any means possible. I have always found it humorous that the crypto community shouts at anyone that will listen "unbank the banks" and just use crypto! Well let me give you a few examples of why the banking industry will always be needed. And yes, we might find this very humorous since the crypto community appears to be a financially responsible group, but in all seriousness these examples are true and it shows the stupidity of the middle- and lower-class society when it comes to their finances. Customer: Can I get $100 Teller: What is your account number? Customer: I don't know Teller: What is your Social? Customer: I don't know Customer: (getting impatient because you have the nerve to ask them who they are) I can give you my name (in a small town that has families that go back hundreds of years that is not very helpful because there can be 20 people living with the same name) Customer: How much was my check? Teller: $550 Customer: Thanks Teller: Have a nice day The customer stands there still saying nothing Teller: Is there something else I can help you with? Customer: Well yes give me my check (of course they don't want the check they want the cash from the check that has been deposited from their account) Customer: walks up to the teller line and just gives random numbers Teller: What is that? Customer: My account number Teller: That account number is not in the system are you sure that is your account number? Customer: Of course, it has been my account number my whole life Teller: Aw that is your Social Security number Customer: That is also my account number Teller: Puts head in hands Customer: What will happen if I write a check and I don't have the money? Teller: You will be charged $30 Customer: How will you get the $30 if it is not in my account? Teller: Well you will not be able to cash any checks until it is cleared up or until your paycheck is deposited directly into your account and then we will deduct it from that Customer: OK cool then just do that Teller: Or you could just wait to write the check when you have the funds in your account to cover the amount? Customer: But they are calling me and want the money I owe now Teller: However, if you bounce the check and you don't have the funds to cover, we will charge you $30 and then the people you are writing the check to will also charge you a fee, plus whatever the original amount is Customer: But will they stop calling me? Teller: For a few days until they realize the check you wrote to them is no good Customer: Ok thanks Teller: Just don't answer the phone when they call Customer: Oh, that's a good idea Customer: Hands you their debit card Teller: Hello, how can I help you? Customer: I would like to put money on this Teller: Ok…. waits for customer to hand cash or check Teller: You realize you are not actually putting it on your card, it is going into your account which is linked to your card Customer: I don't want it in my account I owe money Teller: Well you realize there is no other way to do this until you pay off your overdraft fees? Customer: I told you I don't want it in my account Customer: I have this check I received from the attorney for $20k but I can't deposit it in my account, because then I can't receive my unemployment benefits Teller: (triggered, because their taxes are paying the benefits) Customer: I would like a Safety Deposit box Teller: Well we will have to take the payment from your account Customer: OK Teller: Can I have your account number? Customer: I don't have one Teller: Well you must first open an account then we have to put the check on a hold Customer: But then Social Security will know I have that money Teller: There is nothing I can do about that These are just a few examples of what we have to deal with on a daily basis…...
