Is XOR used for all encryption?

I'm learning about different types of encryption and they all seem to be a simple concept, each encryption is a way of protecting the XOR key. Is this what all encryption comes down to? Making XOR'ing more secure?

Opening an encrypted image without decrypting it

I know that when you encrypt an image it basically scrambles the picture by scrambling the bytes I want to open an image like this for fun, where can I do this?

Linear Shift Register Diagrams

So my primitive polynomial is

x⁵ + x² + 1

So I have to draw a diagram of the shift register

So I have something that looks like this https://gyazo.com/e4d9be86ab6c62c6d76cb6adb0f51ad2

Is this correct or should I have some boxes on the bottom?

And then for my 6 bit register I obtained 101100 is that correct as well or have I made a mistake there?
