Innovating computation and the chip manufacturing industry: IOTA's Qubic Computation Model Posted: 01 May 2019 01:05 AM PDT A simple(r) explanation of the Qubic Computation Model. IOTA aims to enable a machine-to-machine economy, for devices on the Internet of Things. These devices need to work with low amounts of power and in harsh physical environments. Traditional electronics use complex mechanisms that consume a lot of energy and are more sensitive to these environments. With the QCM we aim to create a more energy-efficient and resilient model for such devices. https://blog.iota.org/eli9-the-qubic-computation-model-623417f94777 [link] [comments]
Stop excusing Bitfinex just because it’s 74% backed and other banks are less backed Posted: 30 Apr 2019 04:29 PM PDT First and foremost, Tether is not a bank and never claimed to be. Second of all, most banks don't lie to you about how much they're backed. Fractional reserve banking exists but banks are upfront about it. Bitfinex/Tether CLAIMED to be backed 1:1 and did not disclose this to customers. This is by every definition fraud. Lastly, in most banks (don't give me rare counter examples), your money and withdrawals won't be stuck for months as was the case for many on Bitfinex, since they have regulated insurance policies and larger central banks backing them. Don't forget that even now, the claim that they are 74% backed could also be false just like their last claim. Who knows what the real backed amount is. What they committed was fraud and it's upsetting to see some people justify this just because it may affect Bitcoin's price. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2019 01:28 PM PDT "Me neither." That was a tweet by Bitfinexed, which last night I took to heart and went ahead and emptied out all my exchange accounts. It's liberating. The feeling of sending crypto from one wallet to another, no middle man involved. Having full control of my own funds, and the ability to transfer that without anybody saying I can in a trustless manner; that's value right there, imho. It took a while, but luckily Ledger has come a long way since 2017, and can store a variety of cryptos nowadays. Just a friendly reminder to y'all (because no exchange ever will) to make sure you hold your own keys to those precious coins you own. Especially in murky uncertain times like these, when the biggest exchanges which we think are safe and are so large that nothing can happen to them; the world is reminding us to proceed with caution. Protip: Transfer to Coinbase Pro first, then withdraw from there to your external wallet, Coinbase Pro pays the miners fees for you Withdraw your crypto, you'll be glad you did. Posted: 30 Apr 2019 05:40 PM PDT https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggie_Fowler Here ya go. Everything checks out. He owned the address where Bitfinex USD deposits were being sent in Arizona (4939 West Ray Road, Chandler Arizona) and started the company Global Trading Solutions LLC in Colorado. He claimed, according to ESPN, he owned $300 million in assets in Arizona and Colorado. (http://www.espn.com/nfl/news/story?id=1995986) His Wiki mentions his Arizona businesses and if you Google him regarding his past attempt to buy the Minnesota Vikings, you see he claims to have lots of business in Colorado too. Global Trading Solutions Aktiengesellschaft was the Swiss company that owned Crypto Capital Corporation (who lost the $900M). Same name as above more or less, right? They're all connected. Reggie Fowler <-> Global Trading Solution llc <-> Global Trade Solutions AG <-> Crypto Capital <-> Bitfinex <-> Tether. Funny enough, this guy was the same guy who tried to buy the Minnesota Vikings and couldn't come up with the money, and just recently said he was going to invest in the now defunct AAF... but didn't come up with the money. Surely Bitfinex/Tether would do their due diligence and their chief compliance officer would never miss something like this, right? [link] [comments]

If you want to hold USD then hold USD. Don't hold USDT. Posted: 01 May 2019 05:09 AM PDT Only use exchanges that offer fiat on/off ramps. There is no reason why a legitimate exchange cannot offer a fiat/crypto service. I have no sympathy for anyone who is fucking around with USDT in this market. If you want to buy fiat then fuck off and buy it. USDT isn't crypto, its a con. Its fake dollars. It isn't backed by fuck all. So stop buying it. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Apr 2019 06:41 AM PDT So I left 1.6 BTC on exchange for a whopping 24 hours and was preparing to liquidate it when I noticed my account was empty. No withdrawals, no transfer, no API keys, no notifications of any kind... yet somehow the account was empty. Checked further and there were tons of unauthorized token to token trades on exchange, suggesting someone other than me had gotten control of my account somehow but they never withdrew a dime. So now Kraken is the only beneficiary of this peculiar behavior but they are refusing to help me. I have a sneaking suspicion something is going on internally over there but either way I'd really like it if I was able to get my money back. All of it seems to have been burned on Kraken fees so it would be a simple matter of them issuing me a refund on the fees for any unauthorized transactions but they've shut down all communication. I've notified the cyber crimes division in my region but Reddit seems to have a far higher success rate in getting people their money back, so I appreciate any and all support in getting this seen by someone high up enough in Kraken to help me.... definitely not sleeping tonight either way. Here's an imgur link to the screenshots showing that there were no withdrawals or transfers in that time: [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Apr 2019 02:54 PM PDT Bitfinex is supposedly planning an Initial Exchange Offering (IEO). My guess on what their strategy is:
Of course, that's accounting fraud, since Tether would never be able to sell those 900 million BFX tokens at $1 each, since the actual market demand for BFX tokens will be very low. It'll just be a mark-to-market accounting trick, as a way to claim that USDT is fully backed by liquid assets. [link] [comments]
Finland’s Bitcoin and Crypto Regulations: Red Alert for Crypto Exchanges Posted: 30 Apr 2019 10:10 PM PDT Finland has approved a new law to regulate cryptocurrency services after the country's president signed the bill that was passed by the Finnish parliament in March. This is the first time a law of such nature has been implemented in the country. According to the new law, all exchanges would be required to register with the country's financial regulation authority and abide by their statutes. [link] [comments]
Thoughts on Bitfinex/USDT and crypto Posted: 30 Apr 2019 11:46 PM PDT This is going to drive people away from centralized entities and towards decentralized platforms like bitcoin and ethereum. As a reminder: The only way you are safe is if YOU protect the keys of your holdings people. This is what crypto is about. If you must use an exchange then expose yourself to the risk for as little time possible. [link] [comments]
Help! Will I lose my coins if I withdraw from Bittrex to Coinbase this way? Posted: 01 May 2019 12:48 AM PDT I'm from NY, and I need to take my coins out of Bittrex. I have altcoins in it. I thought you need to first convert the altcoins into the main coins that coinbase accepts (I have ripple and sia), but when I try to change it on bittrex to the main one, something pops up saying it's not allowed for NY residents! If I withdraw them right to coinbase directly then won't the coins disappear? How do I get my coins out of it and either into my bank or into coinbase? Will give gold to whoever helps, I have a lot of coin in there! Thanks! [link] [comments]
