Hi, I'm looking for info about mining pool fees, but can't find much online Posted: 30 Apr 2019 11:37 AM PDT A little Google-fu hasn't brought up many results, can anyone point me towards decent online resources? Looking to compare mining pool fees and generally educate myself on them so I can make an informed decision. What kind of fee structures are commonly used in pools, what are the benefits of each, which ones are more suited to small miners, that kind of thing. Can anyone help me out? Thanks! Optimal GPU settings (lower energy vs hashrate) for rx 580 8gb Sapphire Nitro+ Posted: 30 Apr 2019 06:22 PM PDT Hi all, What is the optimal core clock , core voltage, mem clock, and mem voltage, for rx580 8gb sapphire nitro+ gpus? Also is there an optimal heat limit/ fan setting? I've looked around at a lot of sites and forums and the numbers are all over the place. I want to reduce energy comsumption and heat given off by my rig, while getting a somewhat decent hashrate and maintining the longevity of my cards. Thanks in advance! :) [link] [comments] |
Does the choice of a mining pool matter? I think it does. Posted: 30 Apr 2019 09:42 AM PDT TL;DR: I mined almost regularly in BitPool and the most stable rate of earning was 0.17 RVN per hour. I am now mining on RavenMiner and earning 0.43 RVN per hour. What's happening? What are the factors that matter here? Does the number of miners on a pool matter? Is mining rewards a pure function of the hash rate you produce or not? ELI5 or CMV, please! I'm a newbie to mining, I began mining on my gaming laptop a month ago and it has been a great learning process! I mine Ravencoin on my MSI GTX 1070 using z-enemy/1.28. I began mining on BitPool (everybody said it doesn't matter which pool I choose and BP has 0% fee and a great UI). I noticed after a couple of days that the rewards were significantly lower than what online calculators told me I should be making for my 15-20 MH/s. I brought this up on their Discord but the explanation I got was unsatisfactory (I can provide transcripts. Generally, I was told that over time I'd rewarded exactly what I'm owed). So I started collecting data. I have tabulated my earnings from 4/22 to 4/29 (This was not 24x7 mining as I paused mining multiple times and it can be argued that this affects the PPLNS formula which most pools use now). But I'm using the most stable rate (these are 8-24 hour periods of time where my laptop did nothing but mine non stop) at which I'm rewarded for my statistics. Avg Rate on BitPool: 0.170574796 RVN per hour. Now, contrast this to RavenMiner (I switched to this yesterday and started logging my earnings) in the last 24 hours I've already earned 8.99067808 RVN at a rate of 0.42725 RVN per hour. I know that the data from RavenMiner is just 1 day's worth. I will continue to collect more data and report over the next week. But there is a clear difference in how much I earn based on the pool I select. ELI5 or CMV, please! Excel Screenshot: Imgur [link] [comments] |
