Looks like SegWit was the root cause for the Binance hack

CZ: "To clarify, the proposal by @JeremyRubin & @_prestwich is to construct a TX that would keep all other tx, and just distribute the hacker coins to miners (about 300 BTC/block prod). It's not: rollback of any tx, nor is it reverting funds back to Binance."

Folks, take a good look at where Bitfinex bank wires are coming from. They're all global payments providers like @currenxie that don't deal with cryptocurrency exchanges. "So who created the accounts with them online to facilitate money transfers for Bitfinex, and in whose name?"

ELI10 tokens? I really don't get tokens. What is tokens main value proposition? What is the use of tokenizing everything? What is the point of thousands of different tokens?

    Posted: 08 May 2019 04:17 PM PDT

Well I understand tokens can be used for managing stock exchange shares and items in games, but I do not get the "tokenize everything" token craze which has taken hold of crypto community.

    EDIT:

Thanks everybody for your comprehensive answers, I think I get it now.

So tokens can represent any good and service existing in the world and bring them and trading with them directly to the BCH blockchain.

This could be actually huge if used properly.

Bitfinexer here. My withdrawals are locked for 5 days how screwed am I?

    Posted: 08 May 2019 02:41 PM PDT

I had withdrawn 80% prior to this but it would suck to lose all trading profit I fought for over the years. I am worried for once. If the cold storage is 0 before the 13th what's gonna happen? Do they have backups, do they even care?

u/nullc wanted me to remake the law of Substitute Goods chart to use Blockchain.info that includes Segwit (removed signatures) data. No data is manipulated. BTC adoption was manipulated.

Thanks Roger for that video tutorial on how to create an SLP Token on Electron Cash SLP wallet!

    Posted: 08 May 2019 02:58 PM PDT

Here's my SLP address from my Electron Cash SLP wallet: simpleledger:qrqm2ecehaccjn2ruxd8f4sypexj79dlpsya23pz4p

I took it one step further when creating my token. I uploaded a document onto the BCH blockchain, another first for me!

Doing this _would have_ made the video longer, as when I did it it used (for the document) some of the AUD$1 I had sent to the SLP wallet, and it then said I didn't have enough to create the token. I sent another dollar to the wallet, but I saw a message about unconfirmed parent (UTXO). I took note of the details in the form and came back to it a little while later and was able to create the token without problem.

And the amazing part is that having done that, I STILL HAVE $2 worth in the wallet. The cost was immeasurably small, in Fiat terms!

Possible SLP Spec Issue. Am I missing something?

    Posted: 08 May 2019 07:10 PM PDT

I have a miscalculation in my description of the percieved problem below. It turns out yes, i was missing something. For some reason when i initially went over the problem i wrote down that OP_PUSHDATA4 was much smaller than it is. Making my noticed issue essentially a nitpick.

Formal issue has been opened here: https://github.com/simpleledger/slp-specifications/issues/14
