Over 150,000 people die everyday. What will happen to everyone’s crypto?

    Posted: 13 Apr 2019 05:51 PM PDT

I realize there are already cases of crypto that cannot be accessed. Whether it be forgotten keys, deaths, etc...

Fast forward a decade or 2 and let's say crypto has been globally adopted and everyone has some. What happens to the 55,000,000+ people that die every year? Are all their crypto just locked up forever too? I feel like with a supply constantly falling like that, it would be unsustainable. I guess they could do splits? Anyone have any knowledge on this topic?

Anthony Pompliano is calling on all #cryptocurrency exchanges to delete #BitcoinSV on May 1, 2019, as a repudiation of the claims of #CraigWright and Calvin Ayre that #BSV is the “real Bitcoin.”

Imagine you had to find the fair market ratio of watermelons priced in terms of grapes. How many grapes equate to one watermelon? That's one of the main issues when it comes to converting cryptocurrencies from one to another.

I got stuck the other day, and crypto solved my problem

    Posted: 13 Apr 2019 11:44 PM PDT

I got stuck trying to buy a product sold by lots of big USA retailers, however I don't live in the US and kept getting errors telling me my credit card and address details couldn't be verified - aargh!

After much trial and error, I decided to google retailers that accept crypto. Boom! 5 minutes later I had bought my product no issues at all!

It's a small and esoteric use case I will admit, but a case in which the banks and retailers were in the way of my transaction. :-)

Btw I used BTC but the retailer accepted ETH and a few others too.

Well-known Projects That Have Been 51% Attacked

    Posted: 13 Apr 2019 08:57 AM PDT

I find it interesting many of these projects persist in maintaining market-cap above much more secure projects. Goes to show either sheer ignorance and/or majority of buys are pure speculation by those taking no interest in actually using these blockchains, or insiders somehow propping up the prices.

    • Vertcoin (newer soft-fork reported to prevent similar attacks in future)
    • Bitcoin Gold
    • Mona
    • Verge (multiple times!)
    • Ethereum Classic?
    • ZenCash
    • Electroneum?
    • Feathercoin (happened long ago. "Advanced" check-pointing reported to have been implemented to prevent future attacks)

Please list any that I've missed.

What Makes Bitcoin And Other Crypto Secure For Eternity?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2019 03:06 AM PDT

This is something I always think to myself.
We are pushing to have crypto as a new or alternative currency (which I am 100% in favour of) but if we rely on currencies such as Bitcoin being a successful and integral part of the financial system in the future, what would happen if we develop technology that can one day brut force or gain access to private keys?
I don't want to be that negative person in the room, but we have no idea what will be developed in the future right?
So then all of this massive work would be undone in an instant.
I do not know the depths of cryptography and also have no idea if it is even possible but would love to know your thoughts on this.
(To be transparent, I have 2.4 BTC locked in a wallet that I stupidly lost the keys to a few years back and I would love to get them back, but if I could do it, we are surely doomed haha)
