Thank goodness for cold wallets. Posted: 13 Apr 2019 03:53 PM PDT My computer was hacked and two of my exchange accounts compromised but they couldn't get anything because all of my crypto is on a Trezor fully offline. If you haven't put your crypto in cold storage I highly recommend it. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Apr 2019 04:58 PM PDT As you may have heard, the EU introduced the 5th anti-money laundering directive (5AMLD) in early 2018. As a result, localbitcoins (based in finland) is now having to enforce KYC checks. To clarify, "a directive is a legal act of the European Union, which requires member states to achieve a particular result..." Most people probably saw this coming but this is only half the story. There is another clause in the directive EU citizens which specifically calls for the de-anonymization of user engaged with virtual currencies. This means obtaining associated wallet addresses and owner identity. Section 1.9 of the directive states: "The anonymity of virtual currencies allows their potential misuse for criminal purposes. The inclusion of providers engaged in exchange services between virtual currencies and fiat currencies and custodian wallet providers will not entirely address the issue of anonymity attached to virtual currency transactions, as a large part of the virtual currency environment will remain anonymous because users can also transact without such providers. To combat the risks related to the anonymity, national Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) should be able to obtain information allowing them to associate virtual currency addresses to the identity of the owner of virtual currency. In addition, the possibility to allow users to self-declare to designated authorities on a voluntary basis should be further assessed." By simply using virtual currencies, you can be subject to de-anonymization by the government. Partial payment from air-gapped cold wallet? Posted: 14 Apr 2019 12:21 AM PDT A while back I set up a cold wallet on an old air-gapped laptop. At the time I thought "I'll figure out how to spend from it later.". Now it's later. How can I safely make a partial payment, while keeping the laptop isolated? [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Apr 2019 05:11 PM PDT First off apologies if this isn't the right sub, just let me know and I'll remove. Also apologies for the formatting on a mobile. I'm interested in buying some bitcoin but have no idea how safe and dependable it is. I am a slight technophobe and don't know where to begin so all help is appreciated. Can I use crypto currency to purchase anything off the web? Also does this include "the dark web" or is that illegal? What are the best sites, and do I need a crypto wallet? Thank you guys so much in advance. [link] [comments]
Bitcoin core full node upload bandwidth usage Posted: 14 Apr 2019 01:21 AM PDT I've had my first bitcoin core full node running for 24hrs as of this morning and it's sent 25gb of data in that time, is that about right, higher or lower than normal? Edit: what do I need to put in the config file to limit the upload data as that's way too much for me to keep it running 24/7, I'll get a letter from my isp warning about usage again. Despite being on an unlimited package I usually get a letter warning about fair use when I go over 750gb a month. [link] [comments]

Best way to send bitcoin to ~10,000 people? Posted: 13 Apr 2019 10:18 AM PDT I am working on an app and want to send some bitcoin to the users of my app, they'll be able to provide an address when they sign up. To start, these payments will be quite small ( < 1$ ) Is it possible to do this with lightning currently? If not using lightning, what way would have the lowest fees? Thanks! [link] [comments]

BCH and Roger are much worse than BSV keep that in mind! Posted: 13 Apr 2019 04:00 AM PDT I know some of you have been following the latests flop from the Craig the fraud and the Calvyn the pedo suing a random user with couple thousands followers on twitter. Although that movement brought the bitcoin community together and showed how powerful we are lets not forget a couple of things: 1- Bcash and their fraudulent marketing on b . Com is still scamming/misleading/tricking millions selling bcash instead of bitcoin to newcommers. Bcash is actually the real cancer. 2- Fakesatoshi might be a fraud yeh, a charlatan and a clown but he has never conducted any sort of scam related to ICOs or Shitcoins. He has always pronounced himself loudly against all of them for being bad actors, its easy now pile on him but don't forget who drags bitcoin's popularity/price down. 3- Exchanges like Coinbase Binance (Cz) or Shapeshift joined the action threatening of delisting Bsv... what about the other 99% of shitcoins with proven fake volume, watchtrading and spoofing? What about bcash and their insider-trader that happened when they got listed on Coinbase? In my opinion Cz or Roger are no better than CWS, the former created a token out of thin air to boost his exchange based in China accepting every single user or shitcoin, and now they delist and comply like if they worked for the government. Roger Ver... enough have been said about that arrogant man who supports shitcoins and attacks bitcoin relentlessly every single day using the dirtiest marketing. Erick Voorhees... the most hypocrite human being in the crypto sphere, the kyc man. Thats why Bitcoin is bleeding out atm not due to CWS This movement is awesome and all that fellow redditors, but lets not forget what we have had to overcome to be where we are right now. Bitcoin and only Bitcoin I love you. Tldr; Roger Ver (Bcash), Cz (Bnb token) and many many others that dont need to be named are no better than CSW (Bsv) they are all ( on their way) the same trash. If I send the coin to a different wallet and made another account to do this a few times would the trail be essentially be killed from mixing into the main wallet of this website? Am I missing some part of bitcoin I am not fully grasping? Please help out a noob that wants to learn more on the tech side of bitcoin and how to stay safe using transactions. [link] [comments] |
