Nominate/Vote for GPUMining's 'Best of 2018' Awards! Posted: 12 Dec 2018 11:19 AM PST Every December, the reddit admins give moderators 'creddits"/coins (reddit plat/gold) to award to the best submissions/comments of the year, which are nominated and voted on by the subreddit's users. We didn't host this in 2017. We are a bigger subreddit now though, so hopefully we'll have lots of participation this time. Here are the categories we've chosen:
Please nominate by replying to the top-level comments below with a link (feel free to explain your choice), or vote on nominations by upvoting them! Winners will be those with the highest number of upvotes. Some guidelines:
Need some inspiration? Search through the highest voted posts of the year. Thanks for reading - we look forward to your nominations! Edit: We'll announce winners come early January. [link] [comments]

What are some good alternatives like Golem and SONM that folks are pointing their rigs at? Posted: 12 Dec 2018 01:40 PM PST As mining becomes less and less profitable, what are alternatives that people are considering? Here are a couple interesting ones: Golem (golem.network) - focused on rendering (at the moment). Long term, more use cases. Linux version supports GPUs. SONM (sonm.io) - a wide range of fog computing applications. [link] [comments]
Portable mining programs? Something I can install on a USB and use on multiple computers? Posted: 12 Dec 2018 10:54 PM PST Hey was hoping for a suggestion on a portable mining program don't mind if it's tied to a specific pool. As long as it's legit. Something I can use from PC to pc. I don't care about the coin as long as I can sell it [link] [comments]
Mining a coin while one address has 50%? Posted: 12 Dec 2018 02:37 PM PST If I mine a chain that for the past 10 days, one address has had over 50% of the hashpower and blocks, if that address attempted a double spend reorg and broadcast a new longer private chain, could the blocks I've mined since he started by orphaned and lost? edit, and another question, if the address mining over 50% of the blocks has distributed his hash at public pools so no pool has more than 30%, does that mean the chain is safe, or could the address still be hashing a second private chain with over 50% at a private pool? WINNING on my 2080s, fite meh! Posted: 12 Dec 2018 01:00 PM PST I bought 2 more 2080s last week, and I'll be buying another in January. Why? Duh, because WINNING! 1) At this moment, mining raven on nicehash with a 1080 ti gets .15 mBTC. With a 2080, I get .16 mBTC. WINNING! (Nicehash and raven are just convenient examples) 2) At this moment, buying a used 1080 ti on eBay costs around $550 after 10% coupon (some higher, a few lower). Buying a new 2080 at Best Buy with a 10% coupon costs $720! 15% more for 3 year newer technology/3 years less wear and tear? Yes please! WINNING! 3) In 2 years no one will want a crummy old 1080 ti. My 2080 will still be shinier and more popular than Charlie Sheen! (As if that could be possible!) 4) I'm teaching myself how to develop ray tracing software on my 2080. I'm gonna be smarter, because duh, I'm WINNING! 5) Hash rates are generally dropping, which means more crypto internet money for the remaining miners like me to sell to the losers when it's going down, and buy 2080s with, and keep for myself when the market is going up! WINNING! Duh! [link] [comments] |
