What % of bitcoins 24 hr trade volume do you think is legit? Posted: 13 Dec 2018 02:20 AM PST I noticed that bitcoins trade volume today was 4 Billion dollars. Now most people who want to buy, are waiting till they think it's hitting bottom. How many of those wanting to buy believed today was bottom? Most wanting to sell are waiting for the price to go up. So why would they have sold today? and of course there is some volume from people shorting and so on... What I think is going on here... is as time has gone on, one exchange wants to appear to have as much volume as another exchange, so they increase their wash-trading with bots. The other exchanges then have to increase their volume to match that one. And the cycle just continues with them all increasing their volume via fake trades as time has gone on. I am far far from an expert in this bitcoin trading - but I'm curious what those of you watching these markets the past year+ think is legit trading with real people / companies / organizations... and inside trading - fake trading on the exchanges of that 4 billion dollars supposedly traded today? Short/Mid Term Selling Pressure & Mining Efficiency Posted: 13 Dec 2018 09:10 AM PST A miner who sells 100% of their coins to cover expenses contributes 25% more to selling pressure than a miner who only has to sell 80% of their output to cover expenses. The thought is as inefficient miners are forced out of production the more efficient miners will take over a larger portion of coin production. They, or the people who buy their coins, will have the ability to retain a larger portion of coin output as profit thus reducing selling pressure. This effect should diminish as mining efficiency becomes more homogeneous. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Discussion on a new sentiment signal Posted: 13 Dec 2018 12:36 AM PST I think I have found a half decent sentiment signal and am developing an app off this signal (at least for me, thinking of making to friends and maybe public). It needs to be tested properly first but it is supposed to pre-empt price pumps. I'm also a pretty green trader, so please let me know if I'm misunderstanding anything. So far it has given me some decent results. I haven't back tested, the dataset involved might be too large to do so properly, but look for small pumps in the last few weeks it has picked. At this point I'd prefer not to reveal what it looks for as I haven't decided whether I want to make it public yet, hence getting some outside thoughts. I'd like to get some thoughts and feedback from the community on a few questions.
1b. If you were interested in such a thing, would an app be best, or are there other platforms that people prefer?
