This was accidentally removed as a dup (false alarm).

I feel I need to repost it again as this contains some very cool presentation from Raiden and Funfair teams. The agenda is as the following:

    • Agenda:
      • Raiden Introduction of Testnet (Welcome!)
      • Funfair Introduction and discussion of operational challenges (Welcome!)
      • General discussion on the above two intros

    How does PoS/Caspar improve scaling?

How does PoS/Caspar improve scaling? Why does it create more TPS on Ethereum?

Sharding I get, but moving to PoS as a scaling method I don't. I get PoS and its benefits, but not with regards to scaling, yet it's always mentioned next to other scaling methods.

Naïve question: Will the proposed switch from ETH1.0 (POW) to ETH2.0 (POS) be a simple fork. Or will it be a new chain with new initial distribution?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 10:16 PM PST

I am confused about Justin Drakes recent Epicenter interview. He makes it sound like current POW ETH chain will become legacy and irrelevant (i.e. worthless). He says the transfer of ETH would be a one way street (i.e. swap your current ETH to the POS ETH). That does not sound like a regular fork to me.

What am I not getting right? I am not super in the loop with everything. I have some dangerous half knowledge of this stuff.

Just talking out of my ass here, please tell me if this is all missinformed, but it somehow sounds like what everyone wishes ETH will be one day isn't really going to happen on this current chain, so I don't understand what the value of any of the current ETH would be in this scenario.
