Posted: 04 Dec 2018 08:40 AM PST The money was raised on GoFundMe which declined to take their cut, but payment processors like Visa and Paypal took a 2.9% cut from the entire fundraising effort. This is exactly why we need crypto and why crypto exists. That almost $500k worth of fund could have gone to the victims rather than the payments processors. Crypto is the future. Elrond Network - Open sourcing Elrond Node and Wallet Posted: 05 Dec 2018 03:11 AM PST Hello everyone. In times of difficult market conditions, people get sidetracked and forget this technology's potential to change the status quo. I'm part of the Elrond team, and we've recently open sourced our prototype with the hopes that it becomes easier to build a truly open source community around it. Before we dive in let me tell you a bit about Elrond. It is a complete rethinking of public blockchain infrastructure, specifically designed to be secure, efficient, scalable and interoperable. Elrond's main contribution rests on two cornerstone building blocks: 1) A genuine Adaptive State Sharding approach: effectively partitioning the chain state into multiple shards, handled in parallel by different participating validators; 2) Secure Proof of Stake consensus mechanism: an improved variation of Proof of Stake (PoS) that ensures long term security and distributed fairness, while eliminating the need for energy intensive PoW algorithms. Our aim of making crypto and blockchain accessible to as many people as possible begins with a more intuitive user experience for both end users and developers. Our open source prototype is meant to create a feedback loop and we wish to:
We're more than happy to start a relevant conversation on why scalability is vital for any meaningful adoption to happen. A detailed medium post on our progress can be read here: https://medium.com/elrondnetwork/elrond-technical-progress-update-some-talk-about-it-we-build-it-3-2c556355d3ae The main code base is on our Github, along with all the necessary documentation for running it: https://github.com/ElrondNetwork/elrond-node-prototype Details about our team and how to get in touch can be found on https://elrond.com Upcoming milestones: testnet launch in December and smart contracts with formal verifications in Q1 2019 We are strong believers in the blockchain technology and its future impact so despite the current market sentiment, we're even more focused on innovating and developing Elrond. If any of this sounds interesting to you hit us up! We'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback. [link] [comments]
Crypto: Focus on what you can control and be rich Posted: 04 Dec 2018 03:54 PM PST I'm seeing lots of very young investors or BEAR TARDS posting rear view mirror charts, non stop negative news, if you only sold posts, this mining op went out of biz, etc Listen up, Crypto Winter is WHEN you invest. All industries like all of LIFE goes thru cycles. The Fall and Winter cycle has been here for a while with crypto. You see this stuff in capitulation like mining drying up, etc. However it is very unique to see real world investment and our sector gaining traction as "retail" gives up and sells at the worst time of course. All the johnny come lately rear view posts are not just LAME, finger pointing, shaming, smearing, etc. They do Nothing today to change YOU or your wealth/health. You cannot control the past. You all can control your future with a reasonable bounds. YOU CAN CHOOSE To SEE OPPORTUNITY TO DO the following depending on the awesome crypto of : Mine open a validation node Educate yourself like reading a basic BOOK about crypto Educate others, go to MEET UP to learn Build yourself up with coding classes or brainstorming Being an entreprenuer in this space Talking to other people HERE on reddit/youtube to build a network of strong hands, or a venture, etc Consider valuing your holdings NOT IN FIAT, but in total tokens/stake held *** this is a big one guys! Participate in the new Apps out there like maker/DAI, Compound, etc out there. HODLERS are being PAID interest to hold assets in the crypto space. Too many people have forgotten these are new digital assets, in inning 1-2, and you can be PAID to hold now! My god, people are using their ETH as collateral debt obligation at sub 3% interest rates! How many people will build biz's on this or pay back credit card debt! What not to do: Sit here bitching and moaning, not realizing half or more of the negative posts are wall st troll accounts, shorter accounts, etc Attacking other developers or hodlers. BTW, most people are attacking HODLING now at the very moment TO HODL and accumulate Attacking other non scam Cryptos! Big one. Stop attacking ltc, bch, etc. Wake up fool they are on most top exchanges for a reason As you age you realize wasting your time on being negative is a waste of a life and your productive power. The ELITE want you to do this to retain control of the existing power structure. I'm in this for the freedom and property rights. I'm in this like forever. I will use my stake as an asset and participate in using crypto in many ways to benefit us all. I hope you all will join me! PS, Life has no guarantees but I know this. Crypto helps bring freedom and liberty to people let alone more transparency, including, and democratization of money. That is something never going out of style. Some of the next gen millionaires are probably reading this now. I know most people here don't get it but 80% of the stock market is literally controlled by the top 1/2 of 1%. You cannot win that chess game anymore guys. Here you have a shot [link] [comments]

What are the chances of the USA government shutting down tether? Posted: 04 Dec 2018 10:45 PM PST Putting the issue of whether tether is backed 1 to 1 aside, what are the chances of this happening? I feel like this is the next big crash for cryptos that everyone is sleepwalking into. I can't possibly imagine the US government will allow this too continue indefinitely like Liberty Reserve.
