Bitcoin adoption could be up for a boost Posted: 02 Oct 2018 10:46 PM PDT Ever thought about using your bitcoin to buy a can of Coke? Spanish hardware hacker Ricardo Reis has, and has shown how bitcoin's Lightning Network can be used to buy items from a vending machine. With bitcoin adoption a continuing issue for cryptocurrencies, the growth of the Lightning Network may be arriving at just the right time. In the case of the vending machine example at the start of this post, a modified vending machine receives a bitcoin payment via a built-in QR code and through the Lightning Network. While this is still far from a commercial proposition, it demonstrates how the Lightning Network could allow small bitcoin transactions to happen on a much bigger scale than is currently possible. Have you read about the Lightning Network? Can you provide some more information about its practicality? I'd be interested to know your thoughts. [link] [comments]

Lightning Network payment gateway. Pay lightning network invoices using regular bitcoin wallet. Posted: 02 Oct 2018 05:05 PM PDT Hey guys, I wanted to share something that I and my friend have been working on lately. This is a simple service that allows paying lightning network invoices using regular bitcoin wallet. Functionality for receiving payments is planned and will be implemented if there is enough interest. Capacity is relatively low for now as I'm still testing it. But I think it is solid enough to be released to the public. Hoping to get some feedback. Disclaimer: This is not intended to replace proper lightning wallets as it does not scale like lightning network does. But I think it should be useful for developers, one-off payments, maybe channel refills. [link] [comments]
