What does Litecoin core do that I can't do on Coinbase?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 02:29 AM PDT

Both Coinbase and Litecoin core seem to be like wallets for bitcoins, except that Coinbase also allows you to buy and sell Bitcoins.

Do I need Litecoin core to start mining? If not, what do I need Litecoin core for?

Set up a litecoin Tor node!

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 12:06 PM PDT

Set up my first litecoin node, practically the same as Bitcoin but I think there are fewer tor nodes.

I will be able to support around 30-50 connections on a raspberry pi for 24/7

I've heard quite a few YouTubers mention a connection between the two but never any elaboration.

How does mining work, and why is solo mining so slow?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 02:42 AM PDT

I was told that mining Litecoins allows you to find a block of 25 Litecoins, but you either have to mine for a very long time (solo mining) to get that block or collaborate with others (group mining) and risk having all the coins go to one of your group members. I was also told that there is a hard limit on Litecoins - no more than 84 million can exist.

What makes mining take so long, and how exactly does Litecoin make money when people mine for new Litecoins? Are we about to hit the hard limit on Litecoin numbers?

Litecoin Foundation Conflict of Interest Policy

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 02:13 PM PDT

Maybe a question for somebody in the LF: When Charlie keeps saying he sold to avoid conflict of interest, is it actually mandatory per the "Singapore Companies Act" or is Litecoin Foundation voluntarily enacting this policy?
