Daily spikes, now I know where they come from Posted: 24 Sep 2018 12:52 AM PDT Last week I asked if anyone know why we see spikes of several hundred USD in just a few minutes. Here is the original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMarkets/comments/9h8dx5/daily_spikes_up_and_down_where_do_they_come_from/ Last night I listened to a interview with Travis Kling a institutional investor who explains why we are seeing these spikes and many other things. It's one of the most important crypto-price related interviews I listened to so I really recommend it: In short: On bitmex you can short/long with leverage up to 100x. Institutional traders are able by polling the orderdepth and other data several times per second to use their tools to build up a picture of where orders will be margin called if the price moves a certain way. By having a image of this when the time is right all they need to do is push the price in a direction and a lot of long or shorts will get margin called and the price will make a significant move. They can trade that move since they can be 100% sure it will happen. If you are trading and don't use these kind of tools chances are pretty good you are losing your money to those using such tools. I observed (from my original post) that this price behaviour didn't exist last year. But during the bear market this has become possible so we are seeing more and more of this. I really recommend listing to the whole interview. There is some important information about ICOs as well which is super ugly. [link] [comments] |
Are we really making higher lows? Posted: 24 Sep 2018 07:31 AM PDT I've heard it claimed that we have made higher lows when we have tested support. I think the first higher low was around 5700, the second was about 5800, the third was 6150 and the fourth was about 6200. The problem I have with this is that there is only a 500 dollar price difference between all the higher lows, which makes it relatively easy to dismiss the variance between them as just random variation and not part of a trend. The downtrend, on the other hand, seems much more clearly defined. For example, the difference between our last two lower highs was 1000 dollars. So, give it to me straight. Are we really making higher lows? Is there really any trend at the bottom of our range and if there is, what does it signify? [link] [comments] |
#Bitcoin Price Analysis - 09/24/2018 Posted: 24 Sep 2018 06:45 AM PDT Bitcoin (Bitcoin) fulfilled all the goals of the bullish scenario. On Friday the upper border of the $6,789 area was tested. The weekend was calm.
