A request to the Ethereum team from the GPU Mining Community Posted: 13 Aug 2018 05:10 PM PDT I posted the below in the Fellowship of Ethereum Magicians. https://ethereum-magicians.org/t/final-request-from-the-gpu-mining-community/1050 I listened to the conference call a few days ago and would like to provide the input that you solicited during the call as a large Ethereum miner (+500 GPUs). I know you are trying to strike a balance to ensure the miner community accepts the mining reward changes and difficulty bomb. I have a solution that I think would make this a lot easier. To be quite honest most GPU miners are now barely breaking even after electricity costs due to the current state of the market and increased ASIC mining pushing up difficulty. Any reduction in rewards without a likewise reduction in difficulty would leave only ASICs on your network. I think I can speak for the mining community by saying we would be extremely open to outright reductions in rewards with the difficulty bomb reward removal if you were to include an anti ASIC POW mining algorithm change simultaneously. We know once ASICs are off the network we will again be on equal footing with other fellow GPU miners and profits should resume to where we are not mining for a loss. I realize Anti ASIC POW change was part of an EIP a few months back but you never finished the work but did agree it would need to be part of a fork with other EIPs. It seems this would be the best time to implement a POW algorithm change along side the reward reduction and difficulty bomb removal. I know you would hands down win over the mining community if you finally took serious the amount of profits ASICs are costing the community and forked them off. One last thought. I participate in a lot of wall street conference calls and your hesitation and lack of urgency to roll out PoW/PoS rollout with Casper FFG ahead of Devcon 4 curtailed a lot investment enthusiasm. It is at this moment in time that your team should double down and pour every last scrap of energy into ensuring Ethereum can complete the goals they have committed to this year. Since this call three days ago ETH/BTC pair has lost 20%. It is now that the community needs to hear your enthusiasm and commitment to work day and night to accomplish your goals this year even if it means DEVCON 4 gets missed by your team. The DutchX is paving the road towards a fully decentralized exchange Posted: 13 Aug 2018 05:52 AM PDT The DutchX is paving the road towards a fully decentralized exchange. Current decentralized exchanges are not living up to what they promise. They incline to be non-custodial protocols that, apart from guaranteeing a safer scenario for fund storage, are prone to cheating and lack liquidity. The DutchX is taking it several steps further by providing an open trading protocol that, by design, attracts liquidity, guarantees fair prices, and eliminates any form of front-running by not relying on an order book model. The DutchX is currently being designed and built by Gnosis, but has a clear objective to become fully decentralized and governed by a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), capable of adjusting smart contract logic, modifying parameters, and more. Learn more about it in this blog post. [link] [comments]

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 10:11 AM PDT Just listened to the Unchained podcast interviewing Ethereums executive director Aya Miaguchi. To my surprise, I was disappointed by the quality of her answers in general. Laura makes a good point in that the community should have had a word in picking this position. [link] [comments]

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 08:09 PM PDT I searched for Betarian Review myself and couldnt find any so hopefully I can help out others skeptical like me. This is relevant to the subreddit because its a site that exchanges Ethereum. Sorry if this breaks the rules. Anyways It worked well, I didnt realize I had to get identify verified before purchasing but I used the support when I submitted my ID and got it verified immediately [link] [comments]
Why is Nanopool mining empty blocks? Posted: 13 Aug 2018 01:06 PM PDT Looks like Sparkpool is also mining half-full blocks. Why would they be doing that? [link] [comments]

Looking for suggestions on a good guest to discuss Ethereum Posted: 13 Aug 2018 06:55 PM PDT Hey guys, I have a cryptocurrency podcast where I try to find guests from all over the landscape. Some of the guests ive had on include Jimmy Song, Charlie Lee, Ricardo Spagni, and Tone Vays just to name a few. I would really like to bring someone on who is knowledgable on Ethereum and can also maybe add to the conversation as to why the fork that resulted in ETC was necessary. I feel like so far the conversation hasnt had someone to talk about the views found here and I would like to expose my audience to those viewpoints. Any good suggestions for who to have on? Generally speaking it would be better to have someone who can explain things well over lets say a good developer, but I would also like to learn more about Ethereum and I think it would be good for my audience to get hear some different perspectives.
