Bitmain sold most of their BTC recently? if true, this is insanely good combined with mt gox not being able to sell and BAKKT.

Bitcoin market dominance has risen above 50%. Bitcoin is worth more than all other crypto coins combined.

When price action is poor I often find myself doubting the real world value of BTC and cryptocurrencies

    Posted: 12 Aug 2018 01:41 AM PDT

Then I remind myself of the real issues I personally see almost daily with the current system:

    • When I spend money from my current account it can take days to show the correct balance on my account due to 'pending payments'. It makes no sense in a digital age

    • When I get paid for my work in the UK from a US employer it takes 2-3 days to receive the money and costs my employer ~3% to make the payment. It takes less than second for an HTTP request to get across the Atlantic, again this is madness

I'm not saying crypto has all the answers in its current form but the fact remains, the above is broken and needs fixing.

I'm unwilling to accept that this is "just the way it is"

Who owns all this Bitcoin? If the price rockets which country will have the most Bitcoin millionaires?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2018 11:48 PM PDT

Presumably people selling coin now just want out or are taking a profit. So the people who own Bitcoin if it goes up in price will be of a certain type...

0.82 BTC in my TrueCrypt encrypted wallet, any advice?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2018 07:56 PM PDT

Years ago I encrypted my wallet file using TrueCrypt. I don't remember the password so I made a python script to try some light brute-forcing ("AAa", "AAA" etc). Since this bitcoin is worth like 5 grand would it be worth it for me to use AWS or some other cloud computing service to attempt a bruteforce on the file? How would I even go about doing that? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I won't be sharing the file of course for obvious reasons

Marc van der Chijs on Twitter: Reading through some of the Bitmain IPO documents. My conclusion: they made a HUGE mistake selling BTC for BCH. If I would still hold any BCH I would sell them right away. I will stay far away from both Bitmain & BCH.
