Trading Staked Tokens (Future) Posted: 29 Jul 2018 07:55 AM PDT Please let me know if there are any problems with this thinking: This is basically a way for people to stake their ETH and transact with a derivative (SETH).

Posted: 29 Jul 2018 04:39 PM PDT I find it hard to grasp the concept of blockchain in general. Not that I don't understand what it is but to put things together to make a decentralize ledger is quiet a challenge. Not only web programming is require but one need to understand a lot of concept which leading to a confusion. I always curious how smart is Vitalik in general. Well, I've try to programming solidity before but fail because can't understand a thing of it. [link] [comments]

Does anyone want to help develop a cryptocurrency portfolio sharing website with me? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 01:54 PM PDT I'm looking for a web developer who wants to help build a website like Stockpickr.com was in 2007 but for cryptocurrencies that highlights top portfolios, and an ability to share and comment on other user portfolios. It would be called www.cryptopickr.net. Would anyone be interested in this with me? I could write up a contract to share a percentage of the profits if you help develop the website. Posted: 29 Jul 2018 01:05 PM PDT I am flummoxed by something involving the balance of a token account. There is a token with a balance of 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 The goal is to reduce the balance to 100,000,000 (one hundred million) Therefore, 999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999900000000000 is sent to a burn address (0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000001). The above amount includes three zeros for the token's three decimal places. However, the TX information shows that 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 was sent. Irrespective, the current balance seems to show (by my interpretation) no relation to the subtraction of tokens performed above. People don't understand Bancor (and the whitepaper doesn't help) Posted: 29 Jul 2018 12:58 PM PDT ""A lot of people don't quite get how Bancor works, which isn't surprising because their whitepaper (pdf) doesn't explain it very well. Last year I spent a lot of time figuring it out, and it's really cool. Their implementation leaves a lot to be desired (more on that below) but the core idea is beautiful." - Dennis Peterson A solid user explanation of how Bancor works and its use cases [link] [comments]

UK tax obligations on crypto-crypto trades Posted: 29 Jul 2018 10:58 AM PDT So if Crypto > Crypto executed trades are considered to be taxable events in the UK and US as far as I am aware, how are people keeping track of all of these trades? How do you keep a good track of profits gains losses and disposes, is using Ethplorer and Etherscan csv files simply enough when calculating annual capital gains tax? has anyone done this before? any help appreciated, thankyou. Cryptographic functions used in smart contracts Posted: 29 Jul 2018 01:51 PM PDT I am trying to find out what kind of cyrptography is used by smart contracts that have been deployed. Are there any (good and bad) cryptographic libraries for use in smart contracts? I'm thinking of functions like commitment schemes, checking signatures and such. Until now I haven't found much and it more or less looks like everybody is writing their own functions and not linking to already deployed libraries, even though this should reduce gas costs. Is there any reason why there are no deployed cryptographic libraries for use or did I just not find them? The most promising seem to be the sample contracts of open zeppelin or this one on github: https://github.com/stonecoldpat/anonymousvoting/blob/master/LocalCrypto.sol [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jul 2018 10:17 PM PDT "What became immediately apparent following the security breach on Bancor is the need for greater industry collaboration in the fight against theft. While thieves leave a clear paper trail on the blockchain, stakeholders still lack resources to connect the dots in order to prevent the liquidation of stolen assets on exchanges and elsewhere. Bancor will soon unveil a broad alliance of crypto defenders — including major exchanges, token projects and crypto security firms — who pledge to contribute resources and capabilities to fight criminals together. Members will collaborate on mechanisms to warn and assist each other in times of peril, coordinate around shared blacklists, and develop open-source tools aimed at stopping thieves in their tracks. One such tool, to be released in the coming weeks, maintains a real-time multi-chain list of accounts involved in fraudulent transactions, as well as a public interface to allow blockchain users to visualize and understand the movement of their funds." https://blog.bancor.network/bancor-progress-update-july-2018-4cfee421de1e [link] [comments] |
