Zotac 1080 Mini: a RMA & repair story Posted: 26 Jun 2018 08:31 AM PDT Hey guys! My Zotac 1080's fans died after exactly one year, and I wanted to make a video about the whole RMA / warranty process of Zotac's customer service, in case anyone of you is ever in the same situation. Video link: https://youtu.be/7hZ9F5g5GFI Short story: I got offered two possibilties, the first was to receive a completely new cooling unit and do DIY repair, the other to RMA the whole card with the place I bought it from (amazon). I choose option number 1, so following in the video is also the repair process (disassembly, reapplying thermalpaste etc.). Hope this might help any of you in a similar RMA or repair situation, all the best to you [link] [comments]

Antminer Z9 Mini suffer thread Posted: 26 Jun 2018 06:03 AM PDT Already 8000 Antminer Z9 Mini are on the way to the customers. Equihash profit will drop hard in the next few days. Who knows a way to continue to mine profitably? Forks will come, but in a few months. [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Jun 2018 03:12 AM PDT Im runing 5 gtx 1070 on thermaltake toughpower 1000w 80+gold, i also have Corsair VS450, can i run one gpu on Vs450 safely? Or still bad idea? [link] [comments]
Covers falling off of the bottom of my risers Posted: 26 Jun 2018 08:37 AM PDT All the covers are coming off the bottom of my PCIE risers. The adhesive eventually gives way from the heat. How have others combated this problem? [link] [comments]
Looking into Building a Rig. Have Free Electricity. Is it still worth it? Posted: 25 Jun 2018 09:28 PM PDT Like the title says, I have free electricity and I'd like to get into cryptomining. I'm not really sure where to start, but I wanted to at least get started on building the most efficient rig to make this happen. What kind of setup should I be doing if my budget is $5000? Thanks! Cowry - OS for mining and for AI/Machine Learning marketplace Posted: 25 Jun 2018 11:26 PM PDT Hi folks, We are working on a Linux based USB Mining OS and I would like to make a quick introduction. What is the Cowry OS? Cowry OS is a monitoring and management platform for mining rigs. You can see and configure all your rigs in one place, monitor hashrates, online status, GPU errors, reboot and hard reset them, etc Features: -Remote management of rigs from the web(setting OC settings, target temperature, fan speed, etc) -Reporting of hashrate, card temperatures etc -Watchdogs (auto-restart of miner or system in case of an error) -Sonoff based devices for remote resetting rigs and get power meter data into Cowry OS from Sonoff devices We will also release an Android and iOS app in the coming weeks. And probably our biggest feature is a platform for AI researchers where they will be able to rent GPUs from users running the Cowry OS. The system will automatically allocate the GPUs to a potential renter and it will allow miners to make 2-3x more than just mining coins(even more when prices are down). This is still in the making, but should be release in a few months. More details on the website https://cowry.io Cowry OS is free to use for 1 rig. There is a quick quide about how to get started and how to setup a Sonoff device for hard reset: https://os.cowry.io/help If you have any questions please let me know. :) [link] [comments]
What is the optimal PSU for powering risers from 6pin cables? Posted: 26 Jun 2018 01:24 AM PDT Hi, I have bunch of rigs of RX 570 4GB and two different PSU solutions. 1- For my 6GPU rigs, i have HighPower Bronze 750w for motherboard and 4GPUs, 400w Everest for 2GPUs. They both have only enough 8(6+2) or 6 pin for GPUs, so i powered my risers with sata (i know its bad). 2- For my 10GPU rigs, i have Redrock 2000w Gold PSU which has 16 8(6+2)pin cables. 10 of them goes to GPUs, which remains 6 6pin for for risers. I have to use sata for other 4 cards. Both rigs also have molex but i use them to extra power for motherboard. I dont want to buy more PSUs just for powering risers with 6pin. Even right now my 2000w PSUs are overkill (10GPU rig can work easily with 1600w). My problem is, i need a power supply which has enough 6pin (if not molex) cable to power both GPUs and risers. Also this power supply has to have a reasonable amount of wattage. I dont want to use 2000w PSU for 8 card rig. PS: Sorry for bad english PS: My rigs are: 1-) Asrock H81 pro btc, celeron cpu, 4gb ram, 750w+400w PSU, 6xASUS strix RX 570 4GB. 2-) Gigabyte b250 fintech, g4400 cpu, 4gb ram, 2000w PSU, 10xASUS strix RX 570 4GB. tldr: I need a recommendation of PSU to power my risers with 6pin. For example; 1200w PSU with 6 pieces of 8pin and 6 pieces of 6 pin. [link] [comments]
Portable Instant Mining Platform (PiMP) OS Posted: 25 Jun 2018 08:58 PM PDT Digging through reddit and I can't believe there aren't more posts/topics about PiMP OS. Everywhere I look there's talk about SMOS, EthOS, Hive, plain Windows, etc... I actually see more posts talking about running a plain Ubuntu than I do about PiMP. I'm honestly baffled. I am a new member of the PiMP OS Support Team and offer technical support on the PiMP Discord channel and PiMP forums. I also run PiMP OS on my own mini-farm. My Farm Build w/ pics! Anyone using HiveOS with 2 miners? (AMD and Nvidia) Posted: 25 Jun 2018 06:42 PM PDT One of my rigs has 3 amd and 4 Nvidia cards. All mining eth but I'm having issues with 2 of my 1080s that are crashing (no overclock at all, but getting gpu error when using the pill. So I want to mine on claymore 6/8 cards, and the other 2, on Ccminer. I can get claymore to select only 6 cards but once I try to make ccminer use only 2 cards, it's actualy is forcing all GPUS to dual mine.. Has anyone used or currently use 2 miners to miner differnt coins? In cc miner I have tried using -d 1,2 "Devices": "1,2" But nothing works [link] [comments]

Best Cryptocurrencies to Mine in 2018 Posted: 26 Jun 2018 01:24 AM PDT
Posted: 25 Jun 2018 02:48 PM PDT Hey, first time miner here. Found a good local deal on a few AORUS Radeon RX 580s (4gb). Maybe too good a deal... What can I do to best evaluate the condition of the cards and maybe some things to look out for in general when buying second hand miners? Any advice appreciated :) [link] [comments]
To those who think ASIC's are good.. Posted: 25 Jun 2018 11:31 PM PDT ASIC's simply add an unnatural hashrate to the network. So in a realistic assessment, it takes 1 ASIC to equal 14 1080 Ti's. So with this in mind, it cost $800 for the ASIC and $11,200 for the 14 1080 Ti GPU's. Now let's multiple this by 1,000 to simulate real-world rates... It would cost $11,200,000 to have roughly 10.5M/Sol's. Meaning that it would cost $800,000 to create this same hashrate with ASIC's and 51% the network. So what does all this mean? Last I checked, $11,200,000 is a MUCH higher number than $800,000. This puts a high security risk to any network due to the ease of creating this hashrate for a cheaper cost with ASIC's. This same concept can be recreated to ASIC-only and GPU-only networks. Using the above numbers, to 51% the GPU network would cost $11,200,000 worth of GPU's, while an ASIC-only network would cost $800,000 to 51%. End of the day, the more the overall hardware cost there is, the less likely a 51% attack is possible. [link] [comments]
Linux Admins Check IN Here - SONM Questions - X Post from Ethermining Posted: 25 Jun 2018 01:12 PM PDT I see that SONM plans to go live in four days with their fog computing ethereum side chain. I've been aware of this project but just started reading about it. I remember people calling it a scam and dismissing it. There seems to have been a little team drama early on and a sour grapes employee complaining on bitcointalk. Those threads aside the project comes off as promising. They are catering to miners in a way to golem or iexec don't appear to be.... at this point. They have plans to create a buy sell market where miners can GPU mine or switch to other more profitable computing jobs. Seems really promising. Their side chain will be created through masternodes. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The project is well documented here. Documentation These details are listed for miners with 1 - 2 rigs. For those who own a mining rig with GPUs, SONM can provide:
SONM limitations:
This seems like it fills a huge hole in the mining space but I can't find any miners discussing it. Any linux users give the tesnet a shot? Any plan to work with this when it goes live? I'm curious to hear from someone that can provide first hand experience with the testnet or thoughts in general. [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Jun 2018 09:52 AM PDT Recently posted a great deal I got on a used Vega/580s and had a swell of people asking where to find similar deals. Just stumbled across these listings, but since I have no more money to spend this month I'm passing on to r/gpumining. Best believe if I had the cash I'd be all over these. Per the seller this is the result of a "liquidation" after 96 hours of testing with Nicehash. Someone made some bad decisions it seems. Posted: 25 Jun 2018 09:09 AM PDT I have found this address https://eth.nanopool.org/account/0x263a0dc25c51f7e821f6a43807c9c546b3f8c3e5/a015ee Seems to mine without putting any hash power to the network as seen in the last received hash: 0.0 mh/s. This account has been doing this for a long time. Anyone have any explanation or is nanopool for some reason giving him shares without any contribution? [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Jun 2018 10:23 AM PDT Hello everyone! I am looking at getting a PCIE FPGA Card for Mining... I have done some research, but still a little confused. Does anyone know of a xlinx, or another, PCIe Card that supports multiple algorithms, if so what models and Hashrate (if known) I figured if the investment is going to be made... then I would like to get some information from others that have experience with them or general knowledge too! I really appreciate it everyone and happy Mining to all!!! [link] [comments] |
