Posted: 19 Jun 2018 04:25 AM PDT I have about 30 GPUs and an S9 in a closet at my space and have been working to come up with a solution to cool the room so I can shut the door completely. I've been working with an HVAC specialist who suggested I install a 6-inch fan in the room. He believes this will be enough to cool the room but I'm not entirely sure, as the room gets very hot with all the heat the rigs produce. Does anyone have experience with this and might know if a 6 inch fan will be enough? Room is approximately 6 x 9 and pretty much empty aside from the rigs. If this is not the best solution, does anyone have a possible alternative? Thanks! Any advice would be appreciated. Edit: Thank you all for the responses! I think I will bump up the size of the fan to 12-inch and am considering adding a fresh air intake. [link] [comments]
Is buying a overclocked GPU risky? Posted: 19 Jun 2018 07:04 AM PDT Hi! I have one rig and am looking to set up a second using an old gaming computer, and I found some RX580 8gbs used online for $300 CAD. He said they were used 4 months for mining and overclocked back in February and haven't had an issue at all. These seem like a great deal but I know nothing about overclocking GPUs, is it risky to buy ones already done or is it pretty safe to just go for it? Thanks for your time :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Jun 2018 07:30 PM PDT https://i.imgur.com/rJIzS6C.png I have the seasonic 1000W titanium. The above image is the wattage on a given rails. I was wondering if someone could help me understand a few things when it comes to PSU. Please refer to the above image link as reference.
Thanks. [link] [comments]
Wait and See on Equihash Fork? Posted: 18 Jun 2018 01:18 PM PDT I am a a real novice when it comes to mining, I apologize if this is a dumb question or asked/answered. I started in Nov/Dec 2017 with a rig and slowly built it up to 6 1080ti's by Jan 2018 and my gaming machine of 2 1070's. I got it all set up, it worked, I have been mining zencash pretty much from the start. I am not sure what to do with my mining rig in light of the ASIC miners... Since they are shipping this week (I thought I saw June 20th) should I just mine until no longer profitable and then wait to a coin forks to a GPU friendly algo? I guess I am just looking for advice on what some of you all are doing/going to do? [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Jun 2018 11:12 AM PDT Is there a way to calculate / measure the amount of cubic feet of air per minute a single GPU can generate? Thanks. [link] [comments]
What Cards to Get for a Rig With Free Electricity Posted: 18 Jun 2018 10:38 PM PDT So I'm currently in a situation where I have free electricity, and was wondering if there are any good cards for mining that would be more overlooked due to their high energy usage. Since I don't have to pay for electricity, it wouldn't matter how power hungry or inefficient they are. What would be a good card/s for me to get started? [link] [comments]
XMRig Proxy Results = 20% Gain Posted: 18 Jun 2018 01:25 PM PDT I've been running 7-10 miners, which depending on mining software can be as many as a dozen+ processes. In addition I've even tried mobile phones and other devices for fun. What that said I decided to use a local proxy to manage the one feed to the pool. The setup was much more complex as at the moment I am mining Stellite (XTL) which just recently released a variation on Cryptonight. This has made it very difficult to find a mix that worked. I tried xmr-node-proxy but could not get it to work with XTL's Cryptonight algo. I tried XMRig on two different Windows PCs. Finally in desperation I installed MintOS (a desktop version of Ubuntu) on a Windows Surface Pro 3. In the end it all worked. Linux Proxy Server: Windows Pro 3 running MINT OS Cinnamon with XMRig 2.6.3 Proxy Window Miners: XMR-Stak: Masari and Haven fork (latest release AMD & Nvidia GPUs) Windows Miners: XMRig: v2.7.1-beta (AMD) (not running XMRig on my Nvidia cards) Windows Miners XMRig: 2.6.3 CPU Overall running the proxy has about 20% average increase in hash at the pool. HOWEVER the pool results are really choppy. Much more dramatic swings. I was thinking that the average hash at the pool would be more even---it is not. In fact the opposite. But it did increase my average hash rate over 24 hours. [link] [comments]
XFX RX580 XXX 8GB low hashrate on 16x lane. 1x lane is working fine Posted: 18 Jun 2018 04:20 PM PDT Hi, We have a XFX RX580 XXX 8GB graphic card with Samsung memory and without any OC the graphic card does 16MH/s. When we try to do some kind of change on the OC values the hashrate doesn't go up. Sometimes it goes down, the load average reaches values of 10 and the dag takes from 8000ms to 11xxxms. We also notice that the HiveOS boot takes ages when overclock is applied. We already did the one time patch and changed the switch to overclocking mode (hardware switch). We're assuming that software compute mode is only needed on Windows. The rig specs are:
If we connect 2 graphic cards (1 Samsung and another Hynix memory) with 2 correct bios, we get 15MH/s (sometimes less) but the second card does 30MH/s! The first card is connected on the 16x lane and the second is connected on the 1st 1x lane. When we swap the graphic's card PCI slot, we see that the one connected to the 16x lane still does 15MH/s but the other connected to the 1st 1x lane does 30MH/s. We suspect that it's some configuration related with the 16x lane on the motherboard. Any idea what configuration might be causing this? Thanks in advance :) EDIT: When we don't use the 16x lane but the 1x and the 2x lane we get 30MH/s on each. Can it be an hardware issue? We're confused because we have another 12 RX570 graphic card rig and if we don't use the 16x lane the rig doesnt boot. [link] [comments]
Starting A Small GPU Mining Farm of GTX 1070 Ti Posted: 18 Jun 2018 11:23 AM PDT Hey Guys, I'm thinking about starting a small Gpu mining farm of 12 GTX 1070 Ti's. How long do you think my ROI should take? Is this even a good idea in today's market? Thanks would love to hear some feedback. [link] [comments]
Different types of 6pin to Sata? What are these? Posted: 18 Jun 2018 01:17 PM PDT I have multiple rigs running Nicehash, all 1070s. Last night my 8gpu rig had a malfunction and half the GPUs wouldn't power up. The rig has 2 PSUs I found out the reason was the 6-pin to 4x SATA cable one of the wires had melted. I grabbed a replacement from another rig I was working on, but it wouldn't power up. The GPUs Long story short, the GPUs are fine, the risers are fine, but the spare 6pin to SATA cable I grabbed from the other rig has a completely different wiring layout from the original one. Does anyone know why there would be 2 types f 6-pin to sata cables? With different wiring layouts? One has the missing pin in the top right corner, the other has the missing pin in the bottom center. Does anyone know where I can order more with the missing pin in the top right style? *********update Two important points I should probably add. 1) it was not the data connectors that melted, but the 6-pin that connects to the PSU. The PSU port was also partially melted. 2) if I were to get a replacement for the SATA, I was looking to get a lower gauge (16-14) wires and only put two GPU risers on it instead of 4. Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Jun 2018 12:05 PM PDT Looking at whattomine shows lyra2 being most profitable (nice hash) but that's because whattomine doesn't calculate the pill hash rate. How many watts is your 1080ti pulling, and do you actually see a difference with the pill? Also does the pill work on 1080s? Sorry for the questions, just curious how much per card your profiting [link] [comments]

Critique my power consumption/hashing numbers for Rx 570 Posted: 18 Jun 2018 10:59 AM PDT 8 gig, MK2 OC, by MSI. 2 cards so far, with the desire to add a few more. Both are micron memory. Win 10 x64 pro, ver 1703. I have them both setup with Polaris 1 click bios mod, and Overdrive N to set the voltage. Both cards have core set to1200/ 850mV and the memory set to 2200/850mV. Both cards are running Claymore 11.7 via nicehash legacy miner program. Both cards are averaging 31.4mh/s per card for ETH and 942.5 mh/s per card for Blake2S. Temps running around 59 C, with fans averaging 35%. My power consumption measured at the wall is 303W when they are mining. Without the GPU's, the rig is using about 22W. With the GPU's in and not mining, it consumes about 85W total.
Thanks for looking at my post and any constructive criticism is welcomed! [link] [comments]

Rig is offline on hiveos, but still hashing according to pool? Posted: 18 Jun 2018 09:17 AM PDT Hiveos says my rig has been offline for 8 hours. My rig is in another city, and I had someone verify that there are connection issues with rig's powerline ethernet adapter. The strange thing is that the pool it mines on (icemining.ca for ravencoin) shows no lapse in activity, is still logging hashrate, accepting shares, and paying out. What is going on? Where do you find cheap cards? Posted: 18 Jun 2018 12:56 PM PDT I would love to use Kijiji, but I live in a small town and cards almost never show up. I have been using /r/canadianhardwareswap , but finding a good deal is rare. Is there somewhere else, or even some tips I can use to find good used prices? [link] [comments]
Time to sell nvidia cards and shift to AMD? Posted: 18 Jun 2018 08:46 AM PDT With profits on nvidia tanking with equihash ASICS around the corner- is it time to ditch these 1080s and change over to 580s or some other AMD cards ? [link] [comments]
Connecting rigs on power line adapters? Posted: 18 Jun 2018 08:38 AM PDT I have to relocate my rigs and can't move the router, it would be too much of a headache. So I found out that power line adapters are very reliable, but not sure if it would be for mining too. Anybody tried it? Thoughts? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Planning on a budget RX560 build, looking for best coins/algo's for the card Posted: 18 Jun 2018 12:03 PM PDT Checking on whattomine.com I didn't see the RX560 listed there and was wondering if anyone here has any experience with them. Basically, what algorithms / coins are best for these cards, and what kind of performance should I expect from them? Obviously these are lower end cards so my expectations are being restrained. Any thoughts? [link] [comments] |
