FunFair Opens Applications for Closed Beta Participation on the Ethereum Main Network!

    Posted: 08 May 2018 11:55 AM PDT

FunFair has opened up applications for their closed beta testing as of today, Tuesday, May 8, 2018.

    Application Details Here

    What's FunFair?

FunFair is a decentralized gaming technology platform which uses the Ethereum blockchain, smart contracts, and proprietary state channels to host a myriad of traditional casino games. This isn't a simple dice game, but blackjack, craps, roulette, baccarat, video poker, slot machines, and a lot more. If you haven't heard of FunFair before, I invite you to check out their website and/or this post on their subreddit.

    Beta Details.

The beta will be limited to approximately 100 participants with a variety of background in cryptocurrency. While many of FunFair's games can be played right now on the Kovan/Rinkeby testnets, the beta will test the platform on Ethereum's main network. Because FunFair is a technology licensor and not a casino, beta testers won't be gambling with their own money – instead, FunFair will be giving FUN to testers to use. Additionally, testers must be from a list of approved jurisdictions. As per the update, it is currently Canada.

    From the update:

    Why Canada?

For the purposes of the closed beta testing, starting with the Canadian market suits our needs.

How many testers do you require?

We expect to need at least 100 individual testers over the course of the test period and we will be collating a shortlist at random from the applications we receive.

How long will testing last for?

We envisage the test period lasting between 4-6 weeks depending on a number of factors. We will communicate progress made throughout the process to all of our communities.

Will testers be playing with their own FUN?

No, we will be providing testers with FUN to play with on the test casino.

    Why Discord?

We will be using the Discord platform to exclusively communicate with our beta participants during the test period.

I think that this is a very exciting time for FunFair- if the beta runs successfully, the official launch/rollout of their first casino operator comes thereafter.

& as per the CEO via Telegram:

"We also have professional testers, both in-house, and at an outside beta testing company. We're doing professional testing at the same time as the real beta testers... so we have a high level of professionalism. As they say, this isn't our first rodeo. We've been professional game developers - and casino developers - for decades !"

My 61 year-old conservative dad accepted bitcoin and ethereum as currency for me to repay money I owed him for covering my rent.

    Posted: 08 May 2018 02:58 AM PDT

EDIT: for the record, my parents live in Texas and I live in Los Angeles. I don't pay my dad rent nor other way around. During the feb hit I asked for a bit of help cause I didn't expect Chinese New Year to affect the market so much... most important to me is that he is willing to accept my beliefs and it's a positive result of cryptocurrency. Almost everything I've heard here in town is how bad it is. The ignorance is REALLY BAD out there guys, they will try and have tried to destroy us but it's not gonna happen. Crypto can do the world a lot of good. That is my main point I want to get across. Everything else, I happily accept your criticisms and comments**

My parents came out from Texas to visit me in LA this weekend. A little background, our relationship was burned due to me leaving to LA to pursue my dreams 4 years ago. I went from homeless, dishwashing and scrubbing toilets to working on superbowl commercials, movies, film and TV. We've always disagreed on everything financially and educationally. He is republian, asian, and a Baptist. He has strong views and I do as well. We got into and... we decided to approach subjects with an open mind. I eventually helped him open a wallet, and over the weekend we talked about crypto and the world and bonded over this. I NEVER would have thought this was possible, but it is. When times were rough he covered for my rent during the feb/march low and he was WILLING to accept crypto as payment, aka exchange of value. This changed our relationship a lot. We are now talking more often and I feel like we are family again because this is what satoshi nakamoto wanted. PEER TO PEER transactions. I value you it, and he respects me, I respect him. It's a great day.

PS im asian and I can sound like a redneck too no lie lol

    More ERC 918 Mineable Tokens

    Posted: 08 May 2018 05:44 PM PDT

Please don't just downvote this post and move on, I'm looking for a real discussion surrounding this topic.

Two more mineable tokens have been created following 0xbitcoin. These tokens are using the same miner, same pool software, etc as 0xbitcoin so I'm interested to know if there might be a trend for utility tokens to start to including the ERC 918 functionality.

I am not involved with either project other than knowing about them but without sounding like a shill, here's what the two new token are aiming for.

0xCATE the premise here is that in addition to the standard minting functions in the smart contract, whenever someone sends this token, one extra token is minted and sent to the address of the sender's choosing. The idea is that if one of these tokens is close in value to the amount of gas used, that there can be free transactions in the sense that you get refunded your gas by receiving the one extra minted token. The price of this token has a long way to go to match the price of gas, but it's possible it could reach that one day allowing cheap or free micro transactions. Despite it's meme nature, it does have serious goals.

Kiwi is the other mineable token that isn't very different from 0xbitcoin, other than in supply amount (7 billion vs 21 million for 0xbitcion.) The project has goals to be used in a platform that isn't yet created. It isn't totally clear how it would be different than 0xbitcoin, but might be interesting if they build a platform where their token is used.

As a full discalimer I have mined both of these, since I'm active in the 0xbitcoin community. Again, please don't just downvote, I'm interested in a discussion about more tokens using the mineable standard and how it can affect every day ERC 20 tokens.

A Brand New User Friendly Erc20 Token Exchange Just Launched! Anonymous! No Accounts! Ethershift.co

    Posted: 08 May 2018 05:45 PM PDT

Ethershift.co is a brand new Erc20 token exchange that provides a very easy way to get the Erc20 tokens that aren't listed on big traditional exchanges such as Binance and Bittrex.

After a tokens ICO is finished, the tokens are typically sent to the investors immediately. Listings on major exchanges take a lot of time and money and are usually not a speedy process if they ever happen at all. A handful of Erc20 decentralized exchanges have popped up that allow for first access to these tokens. Erc20 decentralized exchanges however are difficult to use for the average person. You must use meta mask, constantly have ether in gas for any transactions, and sometimes the network is really slow and expensive to use. Since the processes to acquire these tokens is not easy, a lot of average crypto investors simply won't buy them until they're on a bigger exchange, and by then they have already missed out on big gains.

Ethershift wants to make the process of acquiring the newest Erc20 tokens as simple as possible for everyone.

    1. Select the token you'd like to receive.
    2. Send your Ether to the address provided
    3. That's it! Within minutes the tokens you ordered will be sent to your address.

Ethershift.co launched with 10 coins initially and will add 20 more before the end of May!

Coins currently available on Ethershift are Origin trail (TRAC), Bee (BEE), Bounty 0x (BNTY), Payfair (PFR), Devery (EVE), Bitclave (CAT), Flixxo (FLIXX), Auctus (AUC), Tomochain (TOMO), Fusion (FSN)!

Follow @Ethershiftco on Twitter & Instagram to stay up with all the latest news and coin additions!

Your Daily Reminder: Test your contracts on mainnet and you'll lose 1 ETH like this guy

    Posted: 08 May 2018 06:17 PM PDT

9 hours ago: this address deploys this contract and sends some messages to it, one of which included the address for the private key 0000...0123. Probably adding it as a special case, owner or beneficiary for whatever contract is being tested. Doesn't matter, really.

3 hours ago: similar root address (not the contract owner, but one of the funders of the contract owner) sends 1 ETH to the address for ...0123, probably to start testing their contract functionality.

It's immediately stolen by sweepers who watch the obvious private keys. Perhaps he was lured into complacency because no one had used this particular address ever before today. But here we are.

Testnet(s) exist for a reason. Not that ...0123 isn't known on testnet as well, but it's A LOT less likely that you'll be taken advantage of, simply because there's no value there.
