Crypto Marcet Cap is wrong, says JP Morgan

    Posted: 07 Apr 2018 07:34 AM PDT

Most people in the crypto space thinks that marcet cap is the invested money, and honestly I also thought this for a very long time but... its bullshit

Here is an calculation from JP Morgan about how much money is really invested in crypto

Who is JP Morgan ? No its not a random youtuber or blogger, its the biggest bank in the USA and a trusted bank, over 100 years old, so yeah I think this guys know how it works

Quote "I was reading an article about JPM estimating that between 2009-2017 Bitcoin had a cumulative amount of $6 billion invested resulting in a market cap of $330 billion. In that time Ethereum had a cumulative amount of $2 billion invested resulting in a market cap of $45 billion. This information supports the idea that market cap is almost useless when determining a "value" for a particular crypto.

Assuming JPM correctly estimated these values, a big assumption, I estimated that xrp currently has a cumulative value of $1.6 billion. If the cumulative value of xrp increased to $6 billion the resulting market cap would be $330 billion and xrp would have a price of around $8.46.

So extrapolating from there if $70-$80 billion cumulative value were to flow into xrp the price could theoretically reach $100 with a market cap of $3.9 trillion. Which is very possible if Ripple achieves the goals they have set for xrp.

XRP is going after a multi trillion dollar market.... think about that for a moment

So stop looking at the price right now and go out and enjoy your life in 5 years you will be a very happy person :) Source: https://www.xrpchat.com/topic/20616-speculating-max-price-of-xrp/

Ripple, XRP, Securities, The New Grey Area, and Coinbase.

    Posted: 07 Apr 2018 02:36 AM PDT

I just wrote this in a thread response, so rather than copy/pasting it left and right, I just put it here. I'm reasonably sure this is the current situation from my own research, but everyone please do chime in with additional info and corrections, it's always a moving picture.

I would also add that most of us are above this Coinbase V Ripple hate/FUD situation, even though it seems like a stitch up with every CB tweet, but it isn't.

We all go out of our way to try and help others around the FUD against XRP, we should take our own advice, step back, and do what we want every FUDster to do. Remain objective and look at facts. My post:

"I'm sure you know, securities pay investors dividends on the performance of the company. With XRP we get an increase in coin price based upon the performance of Ripple doing their job by way of furthering the business. On the face of it, that makes XRP a security.

However, one of the three rules regarding identifying a security is that of "common enterprise".

It's current definition demands that the collapse of the common enterprise (Ripple) means a total loss of all securities, as you would expect from any business you invest in and then tanks.

We know that doesn't apply to XRP, because it will still remain even if Ripple dissolved tomorrow (although that would probably take XRP's value back to the stone age). So it can't possibly be a security, but it is walking a line that has never happened before.

It's neither, and both. It's in a grey area that needs clarification from the SEC due to the unclear legal stance. Even if we believe it's 99% not a security, the SEC can rule on that remaining 1%.

Now, from Coinbase's perspective, they need to be shiny clean after the BCH lulz. If the SEC 1% doubt decide XRP is a security, then CB need to be licensed to do it. If they take on XRP tomorrow and plough ahead, then later on the SEC decides that XRP is indeed a security, they will not only be fined, but also face the prospect of pulling XRP from their platform and paying out to all the XRP wallets owed, regardless of if they actually have a reserve for all that owed XRP.

And that is to say nothing for the financial implications of selling securities without a licence. So, Coinbase are doing it right. They are doing EXACTLY what Ripple is doing - being REGULATORY COMPLIANT.

They will wait until they have regulatory certainty onboarding their biggest potential asset so far, or they may stand to make their biggest fuck up to date by miss-adding a crypto which is aiming to solve a 1.4 quadrillion per year problem.

Is it any surprise that the most regulatory compliant crypto has some more regulatory hurdles to jump? Of course not, that's what XRP does best in this emerging market.

If you want to truly understand the Coinbase/Ripple relationship it's not one of hate, disregard or stubbornness. It's that of both parties doing everything by the book, at the top of their game, market leaders defining the space we're all entering and all sides deserve as much respect as we give to the other.

I know it's a headfuq and a complete about-turn, but perhaps it's about time we, as a mature community, were more supportive of CB's objectives and work with them, not against them. I'm one of the biggest "WHEN XRP?" twitter posters.

I'm not going to do that anymore.

5 Reasons Why You Should Purchase More Ripple At Present

    Posted: 07 Apr 2018 05:56 AM PDT

    Confused...

    Posted: 07 Apr 2018 11:40 AM PDT

Some educational help please. In light of XRP being a security or not, I'm trying to understand which we are hoping it to be. It seems there are concerns about being a security because then Coinbase can't list XRP out of fear of being penalized should they eventually register with the SEC.

But with the recent news about Coinbase attempting to register with the SEC, wouldn't it be a good thing to be a security if Coinbase succeeds in registering?

And while the jury is out as to whether or not XRP is a security or utility, what are Bitcoin, Bitcoin cash, Etherium, and Litecoin? Are they not securities??? If not, why would XRP not be much the same as them?

Allvor Trustline - using Toast Wallet/Gatehub

    Posted: 07 Apr 2018 01:36 PM PDT

Hello. I am a holder of ripple. I currently use Toast wallet. Ive backed my wallet up and saved the text seperately.

From what Ive understood, as Toast doesnt have trustline functionality set up. My other options are Gatehub and a desktop wallet.

My question is asking of a walk through on how to import my toast info to gatehub so I can set the trustline up through gatehub.

    Is this possible?

Is there a risk in losing funds?

Are a paraphrase and secret key the same thing?

Thank you for any help provided!

    HISTORICAL MARKETCAP DATA = April-->

    Posted: 07 Apr 2018 09:11 PM PDT

Just for newbies asking questions of when our next bullrun should be etc.

Regardless of news etc, we keep fairly. Lose to the pattern of the previous years, just like Lunar New Year.

According to MarketCap data, we should assume a rise in crypto from April 26th onwards!

We went from around 26B to 80B+ in a month

Just spreading good news since we want to see this bear market end. We have 20 days left before we see and decent bullrun, tho we could always dip before then!

What would happen to XRP if ripple the company closes its door.. for whatever reason?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2018 02:45 PM PDT

So I was wondering what would happen to XRP if ripple the company is forced to shut its door for whatever reason?

How are transactions going to be verified?

And also is ripple able to operate from another country if regulations in the USA forces it to shut its door?

    XRP Market Cycle

    Posted: 07 Apr 2018 05:46 AM PDT

Looking for feedback as to where XRP is in the market cycle. Day after day I listen to folks either complain about the price of XRP or how certain event have no bearing on the price. What I never hear is how normal market cycles play into this discussion. I feel it's important to pay attention to these cycles regardless of sound bites and FUD.

    I'm in Capitulation cycle myself.
