Let's calmly discuss the ASIC problem Posted: 07 Apr 2018 04:38 AM PDT The arguments in the core dev meeting against a hard fork to change the PoW algorithm were these:
Especially regarding the last point, concrete suggestions need to be made. Here are some:

What's the best way describe "decentralized identity" to the world? Posted: 07 Apr 2018 07:22 AM PDT Ethereum Community... I need your help! Ok, so we all know blockchain is the greatest thing since sliced bread. But it's not always easy to communicate to everyday users what some of these knew crazy terms like blockchain, cryptocurrency and decentralized identity realllly mean. For example uPort launches an IdentityManager smart contract to the ethereum blockchain, which creates a stateful decentralized identity abstracted away from a single private key. Instead of a managing decentralized identities using only a simple public/private key-pair (which can be lost) users maintain ownership of a self-sovereign digital identity using decentralized and persistent smart contracts. Ok... here is where I need some help. What's the best term of phrase to capture the essence of the technology?
Avoid blockchain and decentralized? Just use "Digital Identity" to keep it simple? Is it important to think of context for multiple languages? Does anyone have input or feedback for describing "decentralized identity" in a language other then English? Would love feedback and ideas from the Ethereum community! How do we frame "decentralized, self-sovereign identity on the Ethereum blockchain" so it's user friendly for a mainstream audience? [link] [comments]

Question about the move to PoS Posted: 07 Apr 2018 03:13 PM PDT When Ethereum moves to proof-of-stake, is there any estimation on how many separate nodes are likely to be operating as independent validators? Or is it likely that we will see 4 or 5 big staking pools dominate? [link] [comments]

Looks like someone is randomly giving out 7.77 VIN Posted: 07 Apr 2018 03:31 PM PDT I just checked my Ethereum wallet and I saw that someone sent me 7.77 VIN Tokens. I have no idea what VIN tokens are. When I clicked on the address who sent me them, it looks like someone has been sending 7.77 VIN tokens to a whole of addresses. link: https://etherscan.io/address/0x61d80088c69f0874963dcd655de7e0b851ceef61#tokentxns [link] [comments]

Launching an ICO for a physical product? Posted: 07 Apr 2018 09:18 AM PDT Looking to connect with an individual about launching an ICO for a physical product. Unsure of the feasibility, or legality. However I have an interesting idea and would love to get involved with the block chain world more closely. Token would allow for voting rights on future releases and the ability to download a digital version online. Please message me if you are interested. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
