Posted: 03 Apr 2018 03:28 PM PDT Received my full octominer setup yesterday and thought I'd give my initial thoughts on it. The box came pretty well packed, no real complaints or shipping issues there. Most of the case is covered in a blue film to protect it in shipping. The motherboard was shipped outside the main box, where as all the other components like the PSU were shipped inside the case. My only issue here is that I was missing the bag of motherboard screws. Luckily I had a baggy of them from other builds, but still, they were missing. I only received a bag with the larger screws (for mounting GPUs). If I didn't have them on hand I would have had to track them down locally somewhere. I had originally ordered the 110/220V server PSU. I test at 110 at my home, but will eventually locate the box in a 220V place. When I originally opened the box I was worried as the main label lists only 220 compatibility, but there is a sticker on the back that explains it does work with 110V and it does indeed work just fine on 110V. I do have 2 issues with the PSU. The first is that it doesn't really mount in the space that was clearly designed for an ATX PSU. I was able to get one screw in, but otherwise it's not very well mounted in that space. The second is I did find some damaged wires on one of the 6pin connectors. It looks like the insulation was stripped away against something sharp. I examined the rest of the wires and they looked fine. For now I have just taped these up, not really a big issue to me. I also added some electrical tape around the hole where the PSU wires run as it is sorta sharp. I also like that all of the 6pin connectors are 6+2 so no need to 6 to 8 pin adapters. All in all I do like the case/board. It fired right up on the first try with no monitor or keyboard connected. I configured HiveOS on an m2 ssd in my main desktop, plugged in network and power and it appeared online right away. Didn't have to change any bios settings or do anything else. Been running solid for 20 hours now, no issues at all. For now I just have 4 cards as this is a test system. As I scoop up cheap cards from miners getting out or get some more cards during the next nvidia gen, will likely be getting more of these octominer setups. Also, I knew the delta fans were loud, but they are REALLY loud. Gonna need to get a fan controller on this test one, since it's in a garage I occasional like to tinker in. Might switch to some quieter noctuas for whichever setup I end up leaving at my house to test new cards. The fans def keep everything cool though. TLDR: Got full octominer setup. I like it. Few pretty minor issues, but overall I'd recommend it to others and will likely buy more in the future. [link] [comments]

New OctoMiner delivery ~ Windows 10 installs perfectly but on first boot gives a blue screen Posted: 03 Apr 2018 07:16 PM PDT Is there a specific Windows 10 version I should be using with this motherboard? There are no GPUs installed yet, and I'm running off of the internal VGA port. 8GB RAM installed, and a 60GB mSata board for the HDD. I ran Ubuntu Live Session from a thumb drive on this motherboard without issue so I deeply suspect it's a problem with Windows. Not sure tho, since this is my first Octominer board Thanks !! edit - SimpleMiner OS runs perfectly with multiple GPUs mounted, so it's probably not the motherboard. Still working on getting Windows 10 running. summoning /u/businessmonk [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Apr 2018 09:30 PM PDT Hi Im building a rig with B250 Motherboard 12 MSI GTX 1080 8 Gb 2 1100 PSU's from parall miner. 12 PCI riser(need recommendation on my setup) The last things i need to order is the risers, and psu's. But im having a hard time figuring out, how to supply power to the motherboard, risers and gpu's with only these 2 power supplies without buying additional standard psu's. Cards not responding to power limit in afterburner Posted: 03 Apr 2018 06:00 PM PDT Basically, I make changes in afterburner to power limit and all but one card doesntrespond to that, though they do respond to everything else. I change it to say 70% and both afterburner and gpu-z will reflect 70% power usage but my sol/w was still aweful/not responding to the changes in dstm so I checked nvidia smi and basically all cards are using max power and then some. I've reinstalled the latest nvidia driver and reinstalled afterburner multiple times. Windows was just installed on sunday. I have 6 1070's on this rig.,. 4 msi gaming, 1 evga SC, and one Gigabyte Suggestions? [link] [comments]

Should my GPU (GTX 680 4GB Classified) be fluctuating between 0-100% like this while using Claymore? Posted: 03 Apr 2018 04:18 PM PDT Here's a pic of the task manager Not sure if this is normal? Also here is my start.bat for Claymore: This also seems to happen when I use EthMiner. It says the GPU Utilization is at 100% then drops back to 0%. I still am receiving Ethereum to my Nanopool account, I think it might just be how this works, but I'm ignorant so any help is appreciated. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Apr 2018 11:04 AM PDT I've created this app because I couldn't find an app for Windows that I liked and I was sick of checking coinmarketcap every hour for 20 different cryptocurrencies. So I decided to create cryptotracker a brand new cryptocurrency portfolio app for Windows.
Cryptotracker allows you to see all price data for your owned cryptocurrencies in a quick glance. Currently you can see the price, profit and more in BTC, USD and EUR with support for more currencies coming soon.
Why should you use cryptotracker over other alternatives:
For more info check and a download link check out our discord: discord.gg/5yM6pMx Currently cryptotracker is still in beta because I take feedback seriously and I think it's a great way to develop a project I decided to to a public beta so cryptotracker can be improved early on with user feedback. Posted: 03 Apr 2018 09:37 AM PDT Hi guys! So I am running a 6 GPU mining rig. It's been going along smashingly on Windows 10 for about 8 months with no problems bringing up the 6 GPUs and running stable for days at a time, so I know this isn't a hardware problem at least in terms of defective interface equipment. Since Windows has decided it's going to arbitrarily phone home and update itself regardless of my settings, I'm moving on to a real OS for mining. I've done what I can with the BIOS (the motherboard is a Biostar TB85 6+ mining board with 1xPCIe 16 slot and 5xPCIe 1 slots) including enabling above 4G encoding and setting all slots to Gen1 (which seems like it's superfluous as the cards are all on 1x to 16x risers, and BIOS correctly shows Gen1 detected on the 16x slot), and internal graphics are disabled. I am displaying through the card plugged into the 16X slot. Anyway, config has 3 GTX1060 3Gb cards on slots 1,2(the 16x slot),and 3 and RX 4XX cards on slots 4,5,and 6. The card in slot 1 is consistently missing. When I go to look at the lspci output I get this. As you can see, there are 6 PCIe root ports allocated to PCI bridge. So it looks like from a hardware standpoint all 6 slots are accounted for. However, when you go to the dgmesg output I see that there is no bridge window allocated to 1c.0 bus 2 bridge, that shows up here in the bridge window listing. Now, curious, I have 6 PCIe slots, but there are 7 showing here. I have the internal GPU disabled in BIOS, so I don't think that would show up here, so what is that 7th device? Anyway, I'm at a loss as to why it's failing to allocate a bridge window for this, but I'm assuming this is why GPU6 is MIA. Could someone help me get a grip on how these bridge windows work and how I might convince Ubuntu to assign a window for this slot? I'm at a loss here. Thanks! [link] [comments]
