How to find new coins to mine?

    Posted: 05 Apr 2018 06:23 AM PDT

    Hello,

Given that the market is still....interesting... I want to try and mine some new (riskier) coins with a low difficulty that haven't been put on exchanges yet, etc. or just recently. What to mine something I can get a lot of coins for. Where is the best place to look for these kinds of coins? Or does someone have any they could recommend? I have a mix of AMD and Nvidia cards at the moment. Thanks!

    Confused about power supply?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2018 10:56 PM PDT

im only trying to run 2 vegas cards. when I use my 1500w powersupply they work just fine.

when I use my 1200w powersupply the cards wont even turn on.

Im confused because I know just to power 1 vega card is only 200 or 400 max, so a 1200 power should be plenty. what is going on here?

Most Stressful Algorithms to Benchmark With?

    Posted: 04 Apr 2018 10:02 PM PDT

So I am setting up my cards bios settings, clocks, voltages, etc. In fine tuning my cards to be stable mining Ethereum, I noticed they would become unstable when switching to Equihash or another algorithm.

Considering I would like to be able to switch coins in the future with minimal effort after initial setup, are there a good list of some of the most taxing algorithms to benchmark your settings on?

    Incredible crazy GPU malfunction

    Posted: 04 Apr 2018 08:03 PM PDT

Hello, so, I'm here to ask for kind of help, as the following happen to me and I still cannot belive it.

I have seven 6x 1080 Ti rigs, they have been working pretty well for two months in a row, but last friday... Things were crazy last friday.

Six cards seems to be serioustly damage, I will split it in two cases and they were three on one rig and three on another.

The first case, is indeed, the best one, I rented an apartment just to install mining rigs, this particular rigs was the newest one, the right have 2x ZOTAC AMP EXTREME 1080 ti, three ASUS turbo 1080 ti, and one MSI GAMING X 1080 ti. Two of the Asus and the MSI suddenly stopped.

First, the MSI card, after check the rig, and literaly tried EVERYTHING (uninstall drivers with DDU, replace risers, change PCI slot on the mobo, change PSU, reinstall a fresh windows), I never manage to make it work again, the card seems to be perfect, the fans turn on when I boot the rig, afterburner and device manager recognizes the card, BUT, when this MSI card is connected to the MOBO after windows starts, the fans won't obey in any way the afterburner, instead, the fan control option is gray, and I cannot see neither the bar nor the actual speed (the fans are stopped), and also the pc itself turn VERY VERY slow, only when this card is connected, and as I said, I already tried EVERYTHING, without any success, except... For the windows fresh installation, after reinstalling windows from scratch, and after installing the drivers (v390.65), afterburner could recognize correctly the card, fans working, not slowing the pc in any way, after the first reboot... After that, everything were the same. Thinking on RMA this f***ing card.

Now the ASUS, they both do the same thing, once windows starts, it shows error code 43 on device manager, and the fan speed goes up to 100% on both cards, I coulnd't figure out a way to clear that error code 43, and I think I tried everything too (DDU drivers uninstall, complete reboot [turning off PSU and keep pressing the power button for like a minute], change PCI slots, change MOBO link speed [Tried with everythin, GEN1, GEN2, GEN3, and AUTO], and at last, another windows installation without any improvement), not a single clue what to do with this, maybe RMA too?. Even if I tried a single card, same thing happens.

This rig have the following specs:

Intel i3 4th gen processor LGA 1150 4gb DDR3 RAM 32gb Virtual memory Two PSU, one Corsair 1200w HX1200i and one thermaltake 1200w (Hey that thermaltake PSU really suck) A 120gb SSD The GPUs mentioned above 6x 1x PCIE to 16x PCIE risers Windows 10 64 bit OS Biostar BTC250-pro MOBO

Now the other rig, this one seems to need straight to RMA, I got another rig with 6x EVGA 1080 ti, and three of them stopped working, the pc just now detect them in any way, they are receiving good +12v on all theirs pins, and the risers are powered by 3.3v, indeed, I can see the lights on inside the cards, but the fans just move a little like trying to turn on but not being able to, if I disconnect the +12v input, there's no diference, if I remove the power to the risers the cards doesn't do anything, no lights on.

    Specs.

Intel i3 4th gen 1150 processor 4gb ddr3 ram biostar BTC250-PRO MOBO GPUs mentioned above Two PSU, both corsair 1000w 1000RX 6x 1x PCIE to 16x PCIE risers Windows 10 64 bit OS 120gb SSD

Any clue what else I can do?, all this happen at the same time last friday, when my apartment had a power surge (however, corsair PSUs are not protected against power surges?, why GPU would be damage instead of the PSU itself?).

Any kind on comment will be highly appreciated.

GPu fan vibration, Is it safe to use

    Posted: 04 Apr 2018 07:34 PM PDT

Long story short I accidentally broke off one of the fins on my gpu fan. This in result creates a vibration from the gpu. I don't mind the vibration, but I don't know if it would break anything. Thanks!

A way to fix the problem of facebook and other social/chat apps

    Posted: 04 Apr 2018 07:31 PM PDT

So I'm sure this has occured to many other people as well, but a messenger or chat app that works on blockchain is a way to get around the whole privacy issue surrounding facebook or chat apps. No matter what you do, you have to trust that an app isnt spying and selling your information. Something open source is the best way... but who pays for the servers? If it was done using blockchain (charging a very small fee per message sent like 0.0001$ worth) then the miners get the fees.

The only other way I could see truely secure encypted messaging work would be a peer to peer decentralized thingy like in Silicon valley.
