It happened! ∆ Delta 1.6 for iOS & Android is out & we now support Exchange Account (API) Connections, Transfers & BNB Fees!

    Posted: 12 Mar 2018 08:19 AM PDT

Hi everyone! Nicolas from ∆ Delta again! We realise it's been pretty quiet on the release front for Delta lately (aside from releasing our new homepage & desktop beta of course), but this time is now over! :)

Finally we can proudly announce that Delta has API imports (we call it Exchange Account Connections) and that we support not only buy & sell transactions but also all different types of transactions (withdrawals, deposits, mining, airdrops, dividends, etc.), which we all put under one umbrella called 'Transfers'. Then there's also support for BNB fees & an easier way to add switch to the 'percentage holding' views. Yeah, we went a bit overboard. 😳

We sincerely hope you'll like our approach of implementing all of this. We don't support CSV imports yet, so considering some API's have limitations on how far you can go back time, this isn't a magical solution if you want to import your past transactions. If you don't import past transactions, it's really awesome to see that Delta already added the transaction before you even thought of adding it yourself. :) Note that we'll add more exchanges for Exchange Account Connections in the coming weeks.

If you want a bit more info on all of this, here's the link to our blogpost: https://medium.com/getdelta/finally-delta-1-6-with-exchange-account-connections-transfers-bnb-fees-is-here-588ddff29ce8 And as always, if you have questions, go ahead. I'll try my best to answer all of you here. Looking forward to the feedback!

Do you guys believe in the idea of the decentralized exchanges? I'm trying to trade on few of them my alt-folio; but I'm scared to enter there with my BTC part.

Look at the top 300+ Crypto Map – you still think blockchain platforms are good investments?

    Posted: 12 Mar 2018 09:34 AM PDT

In the process of building a tool to compare coins by market cap (to estimate their potential), we ran into a problem of identifying comparable coins, i.e. competing projects. Therefore, we decided to categorize top cryptocurrencies by industry/field they operate in. Categories file with 300+ crypto map is here.

    Observations

After going through 300+ coins' websites, reviews and sometimes even whitepapers, one by one, we've noticed a few issues:

    • There's a lot of projects but only a small number of them solve real-world problems. There are so many similar projects without any use cases, or potential real users.
    • Most coins aim to solve the same problems and focus on the same broad use cases.
    • A large number of projects claim to be "better, faster, bigger, etc." yet fail to provide any sustainable competitive advantage
    • With a few exceptions, the vast majority of blockchain platforms (Smart contracts and dApps) don't offer clear significant benefits against the established players. In addition, they don't provide services that would help attract new users, e.g. helping them integrate users' products into the platform, and they don't suggest any other ways of how they will attract a critical number of users. This will likely result in a large number of zombie platforms serving small numbers of companies.
    • Similarly, only top3, maybe top5 projects within each category should dominate, while the rest would struggle to attract users or cease to exist, unless they pivot to focus on specific small niches within their markets
    • Many projects fail to clearly communicate what they actually do and why they exist, i.e. what are their benefits against competition. In some cases, we needed to really go deep into their whitepapers or even discussion boards to understand what they actually do.
    • In cases when a project aims to solve a specific problem, it seems to have much lower market cap potential compared to crypto projects that are impossible to link to traditional companies or industries
    • Top 3 categories of the reviewed projects: Finance (29%), Digital cash (21%), Smart contracts and dApps (16%)

Categories (check the 300+ crypto map)

Categories are available on MatchCoins.info, currently as a feature of coin comparison. In addition, we've assembled all the top projects into a Crypto Map for you to see the big picture here. Enjoy! If you have any suggestions, we'd appreciate your feedback.

Research alleges $3 billion worth of fake crypto trading volume -- OKex platform has been accused

    Posted: 12 Mar 2018 01:01 AM PDT

    Full article: https://cryptonewsmagnet.com/3-billion-worth-of-fake-crypto-trading-volume/

A cryptocurrency trader has published a study showing his conviction that a massive amount of crypto trading volume on OKex is concocted.

Sylvain Ribes, the author of the study, brings to light some interesting information gathered from popular exchange platforms that could be falsifying their crypto trading volumes. He explains that his initial intention was not to look for fake crypto trading volume but to "gather data about cryptoassets liquidity."

    bots cheating on hitbtc

    Posted: 12 Mar 2018 04:50 AM PDT

I'm not much of a trader and this is my first time posting here really. So apologies if this is not considered on topic or relevant for this sub.

I was usually place limit orders manually and do staggered sells so this is not a problem. But tonight I was tired and was looking to dump a decent amount so I just used market.

The garbage estimate calculation didn't even take my amount into account and told me to expect 16 of a coin at the highest bid price which had .01 volume. I looked down the buy wall and saw enough to fill my volume at for about 15.6, an amount I was okay with. I did the market order and hitbtc instantly took its bots out and my sell dumped it way past that point and I ended up with 15.2, so not an insignificant loss. Lesson learned for the future.

Not that it matters, but the coin is not bitcoin.

How can I see LocalBitcoins volume data?

    Posted: 12 Mar 2018 07:10 AM PDT

I'd like to analyse what LocalBitcoins volume data looks like over the last few years. Where is this data? I've tentatively found the BitcoinCharts CSV data here (localbtc*.csv.gz) but I don't know how to interpret it. The first column is the timestamp, but the other columns I'm not sure (maybe fiat price and Bitcoin amount, but I don't know of what).

Cerebro, Hedgehog and the new BMX fork

    Posted: 11 Mar 2018 08:29 PM PDT

    Hi all,

If you've been following my posts, you'll know what the above things are. Here's the elevator pitch:

    1. Cerebro is a decentralized consulting firm. Think fiver on blockchain
    2. HedgeHog is a Crypto trading app I'm building. Think "Be your own Hedgefund". It will be iOS for now... I don't know how to code in Java
    3. BMX stands for Bitcoin Markets Xchange and will be a Bitcoin clone with some additional properties that make it suitable to build/run trustless exchanges on.

The idea is to see if you guys are interested in contributing. If yes, then you will get a portion of the company. The company will be incorporated in Switzerland and I will be distributing shares of the company according to the commits on the github. If you have more/better commits than me, you will own more of the company than I.

Any exchanges similar to Whaleclub? But without the ridiculous margin finance rates?

    Posted: 11 Mar 2018 04:48 PM PDT

I'm looking for an exchange where I can deposit some BTC, then use that BTC as collateral to margin trade bitcoin. Whale club does this but their fee for financing is a ridiculous 9%/day. That's simply insane and not sustainable. Is there anything else like this available for US customers?

    OCC Now Trading on ForkDelta!

    Posted: 11 Mar 2018 07:37 PM PDT

With the OCC airdrop complete, we're excited to officially announce that the Original Crypto Coin token is trading on ForkDelta. ForkDelta is a fork of the EtherDelta decentralized exchange for Ethereum based tokens. It's got a faster order processing system and other improved features like alerts for orders that are placed far outside the average price. It interacts with ForkDelta's revamped API, but uses EtherDelta's original contract.

There's a bit of a learning curve if you've never used a decentralized exchange. It's probably most convenient to interact with the exchange's smart contract using MetaMask, but there are other options as well. The nice thing is that as a decentralized exchange, you don't need to create an account on ForkDelta to trade, and there are a wide variety of ERC20 compliant tokens available.

Before trading, make sure you are on forkdelta.github.io by checking the URL in your address bar. OCC has no affiliation with ForkDelta or control over their order system. You can find support for using ForkDelta on their subreddit. There are also some tips on getting started on EtherDelta's subreddit here. Happy trading!

    Help with Coinigy API

I have a question that I hope I might have some guidance on. I am using Coinigy.com as a trading platform. I want to download the historical data of all my trades. I can only see my current holdings. I am not sure if a script needs to be written to view this data. Any help with this matter is appreciated.

    Posted: 11 Mar 2018 06:09 PM PDT

One of the most valuable aspects of being able to sell short is hedging. This is especially important in the crypto community. Many people want to consume the utility of the tokens they own without being exposed to so much price volatility.

Here is the top reason Bitcoin price will sky Rocket in the coming days

    Posted: 11 Mar 2018 11:44 PM PDT

The past few days saw Bitcoin and the rest of the crypto market experience a significant drop in value. While this seems to have changed as of today as most cryptos are in the green, here is the one reason Bitcoin price is likely to skyrocket in the coming days.

Last week, the Mt. Gox trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi revealed he had sold almost 35, 841 BTC and 34, 008 BCH to raise money to refund the investors of the defunct Mt. Gox exchange. This massive sell-off has been cited by analysts as the reason Bitcoin price and that of other cryptos had dipped.

Many keen observers of the market have partly blamed Kobayashi, claiming the influx of Bitcoin has been the key contributor to the intense volatility experienced in the market recently and also in the month of December 2017 and January 2018. Read details at:https://crypto-lines.com/2018/03/12/reason-bitcoin-price/
