Posted: 04 Mar 2018 06:00 AM PST NBC just did one of the best stories on Bitcoin I have ever seen mainstream media do. Excellent explanation. Mentioned the drop but also pointed out its sustained growth dispute that drop. The only criticism I have came from two bad quotes from a guy with the Digital Currency Group. He said "bitcoin is an investment" . That's wrong. It's a protocol. This is what it really is and it's a very important thing to realize as the IRS and your accountant attempts to figure out how it should be taxed. He also said " you will either make a lot of money or you will lose all your money" . That's completely wrong. Bitcoin will never be worth nothing, anymore than an ounce of gold will ever be worth nothing. People need to stop saying that. It's false and people in the industry especially should know better. Bitcoin minute-by-minute order book data. Posted: 05 Mar 2018 02:44 AM PST I am looking for the bitcoin minute-by-minute order book data from several exchanges. Data sources with less resolution also welcome. I already have access to the minute-by-minute price data from http://api.bitcoincharts.com/v1/csv/ but I would like order book data if possible, even if it's paid. Thanks. [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Mar 2018 04:17 PM PST Hi all, As stated, I have some old Bitcoin lying around that I want to move. As it currently stands I have this Bitcoin stored in an old Electrum wallet that is roughly 2.5 years old. Before I go and cowboy my funds I thought I would ask for advice here first now that the fees are low enough to move them comfortably. I am wanting to use the following set up:
From there I will move my funds from the old address to the new address. After I have confirmed they have landed in the new address I will import the keys into a BCH wallet to keep them completely separated. Regarding the steps for transferring the funds themselves, are there any important steps that I need to be aware of to avoid sending my coins into the ethos? Thanks for your time. *ninja edit: this is a throwaway account btw [link] [comments]

Found a wallet backup on Google drive. Not sure how to proceed.. Posted: 04 Mar 2018 04:08 PM PST So last night I found a bitcoin backup on my Google drive from 2016. Most likely empty but not 100 percent sure because I did lose access to a laptop I had last year around that time. Most likely it was multibit that the wallet. How do I go about getting the backup installed and checking the history/balance? [link] [comments]
Throttle Bitcoin Core's bandwidth usage Posted: 04 Mar 2018 11:22 AM PST Does anyone have a solution to the crazy upload usage of running a full node? I'm fine with uploading at 2mb/s 24/7, but anything more hits my bandwidth hard, and I start seeing significant slowdowns. I haven't seen an option in Core to throttle this, and there's nothing online as far as I've found other than third party programs to limit specific apps. Any ideas? Since v16 came out my upload speed has been going crazy for people re-downloading the blockchain. edit: No updates on tracker in years: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/273 [link] [comments] |
