Posted: 04 Mar 2018 01:56 PM PST Here are my two rigs so far. One is 6 x 1080 Ti's and one is 6 x 1070 Ti's. I am purchasing and modifying Rosewill 4U server cases. Each case has a 900 watt HP server PSU and standard ATX PSU. The newer one (1070) also has a 12 volt relay to turn on the server PSU when it receive power from the ATX PSU. I am not a huge fan of open air rigs. These are much cleaner looking and cool very well. I can also filter the air and force the hot air where I want it to go. All fans are Noctua NF-F12 Industrial PPC 3000. They are quieter than delta fans, and take up a bit less space, but still good for 300 CFM through each case. I have them racked up in a small rack for now, just sitting out in my basement where most of the hot air can get sucked up by the furnace cold air return (winter here). I keep the furnace fan running 24/7. I am going to start a build out of a small server room below my stairs to the basement and pump in filtered air, and then exhaust outside in the summer. Also going to be adding some dedicated power there. I have both rigs overclocked and set to 80% TDP. The 1080 Ti rig is about 30% faster. I do plan to add more rigs over time but I may stick to 1080 Ti's (or newer cards, if they ever get released) as I really want to maximize density. EDIT: Here are a couple of more pictures I took while building. Sorry I don't have anymore detailed pictures. I used part of the drive cage mount in the front and added a quarter piece of plastic on top of it to mount the risers to so they just aren't dangling there. There is enough room under the riser mounting plate to run cables below it between it and the bottom of the case so everything stays out of the way. [link] [comments]
What server PSUs are most common Posted: 05 Mar 2018 04:25 AM PST We're decommissioning a ton of servers at work - scrapping them- and I have approval to strip them. What's everyone using for PSUs so I can keep a look out. I've heard HP but which ones. [link] [comments]

1/3 Vega 56s mining on Nicehash Posted: 05 Mar 2018 07:34 AM PST Hey guys, having some trouble with Nicehash as well as MiningPoolHub with my Vegas. Currently with nicehash if I try to benchmark/mine with them it's benchmarking all 3 then mining with just 1 of them. Even if I try to force it to use all 3 with sgminer for Cryptonight it just force closes the miner every time it starts up. 2nd question but not as important - I'm getting a socket error from every MiningPoolHub pool with Cast XMR. Anyone had similar issues with these two? Mining XMR or ETN I can get 6000 hashes no problem and it's stable so I have no idea why these 2 services are being finicky. If anyone could give me some suggestions to try out it would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
Asus Radeon RX 560 EVO OC Edition 4GB under performing Posted: 05 Mar 2018 07:26 AM PST From what I've read online it seems my card is significantly under performing. Its running at about 9 mhs for eth dual mine which from what I've read is sort of close to stock speeds. How would I be able to get it to push closer to 12. It is a baffin 896 cores. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]
How much data is used when mining? I'm seeing a 5 gpu rig mining zcash/eth use 1gb data/24h Posted: 04 Mar 2018 08:30 PM PST I'm curious what others are seeing for data usage. I just recently moved my rig into a storage unit with free power for cheap. It's cool like outside temps but protected from weather, I added in a mobile internet device, tethered to the PC via USB and it has great signal and ping to my pools. But it seems that it's using a ton of data for mining. Around 500-700mb a day. Even without any teamviewer connections to check it. Anyone know monitoring programs out there to show what uses "x" data? Or how much is normal, I'm mining zcash on a pool, and eth on same pool different port. 2 mining programs. [link] [comments]
Powering a 1-to-3 pcie splitter Posted: 05 Mar 2018 04:55 AM PST Hey folks, Planning to buy a 1-to-3 pcie splitter which will host 1x1080ti and 1x1060. Mobo (Gigabyte GA-Z270P-D3) has 6 slots + 1 m.2. slot, but I want to use 8 cards. With the mining specific bios on this motherboard in theory I should be able to get the 8 working - any of you out there with any success? finally - with powering the splitter - is SATA a big no-no (the GPUs will obviously have their own pcie power)? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Where do you find new coins for mining? Posted: 05 Mar 2018 04:07 AM PST As a single gpu miner, its better for me to find low difficulty coins. Im checking coinmarketcap but they r mostly 2-3 weeks old already. When i check bitcointalk, can figure it how to list by date because new comment topic goes to top. Any advice or tactic do you fallow? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Mar 2018 09:38 PM PST I've been reading a lot and I have a few questions regarding powering GPUs and cards. First two questions are referring to the PCI-E 8pin cables that have TWO 6+2 connections (on a single cable)

Beginner question regarding powering 5th and 6th GPU Posted: 05 Mar 2018 01:03 AM PST Hey guys! About a month ago I assembled my first mining rig, containing the following hardware:
My PSU supports 4 VGA cables powering each GPU with 8 pin and the riser also with 6 pin. I'm using the following risers: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07516Y1P8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I like the mining hobby so I decided I wanted to add 2 more Gigabyte GTX 1070 cards. My question now is, how do I power those 2 extra cards as I have only 4 VGA outputs on my power supply? Thanks for the help, appreciate any tips :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Mar 2018 12:27 AM PST Inspired also by the rosewill 4U case thread, where u/sr_erick shows us how it's done. Can Lian Li PC-D8000B HPTX fit 12 gpus, 2 mobos, 12 risers and so on? What do you recommend? [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Mar 2018 08:02 PM PST I have been mining equihash on my 1050ti but I want to do ethash as it should be the most profitable in theory according to whattomine. But I am only getting like 4.77 Mh/s on miningpoolhub using ethminer, is that normal? I tried mining Metaverse ETP (also ethash) and I get 11-12Mh/s [link] [comments]
Vega 56 - Stability Experience Posted: 04 Mar 2018 07:59 PM PST Has anyone else expexperienced a large stability difference between different algorithms? I am using 2 reference Vega 56 cards, I use OverdriveNTool instead of Wattman and I have tweeked mem and core clock/voltages. Maybe its just my tuning ability but I find that EthHash is way more stable than Equihash or Cryptonight. By 2 Vegas can mine for a month straight at 40MH/s without any issue. But I am lucky to get 24hrs consistent results on other algorithms. Just wondering if this is me or a common experience. [link] [comments]
Dell PowerEdge 2900 PSU Breakout Board Posted: 04 Mar 2018 07:41 PM PST I have access to a number of these PSU's, but I am not seeing any breakout boards for these units. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Mar 2018 02:36 PM PST Anyone know the answer to this? Like if I want to mine Intensecoin or Electroneum, will the software that's updated for the Monero hard fork still be able to mine them? [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Mar 2018 05:42 PM PST After reading post after post about how easy it is to undervolt/cut power use in Windows vs Linux - I decided I would try Win10 in my latest rig and see if I could beat the power use of my linux rig. I feel like the new drivers (and even the new version of claymore v 11 + ) are optimized for Vega cards. I say this because I am having a hell of a time saving anything. I am 10 watts under my linux rig consumption and that was after 2 weeks of research and testing. I am running 6 - 580s. Are there a certain set of drivers that I should be using for that hardware? A certain Claymore version? Upgrading from Claymore 11.2 to 11.3 with the latest Crimson drivers gave up all the gains I had made in terms of power savings. V11.2 with the first set of adrenaline drivers, I was using more power than I was in Linux. Anyone else running 580s that can crack an egg of knowledge on my head ? I would appreciate it. 1070 vs 1070ti vs 1080 vs 1080ti Posted: 04 Mar 2018 04:46 PM PST So I have an idea. Let's create a buying guideline for the cards. Determine at what prices and situations it is to buy either card. So, to do so I need your guys help to determine factors related to buying. I'm looking at price, hashes, average daily earnings for most profitable coin Any thing else I should consider? System fan control on a TB250-BTC? Posted: 04 Mar 2018 04:43 PM PST Anyone have any luck getting power management for system fans on this board? I understand that there's nothing explicit in the BIOS for system fan control (other than reading the rpm on the sys_fan1 header), but I was hoping there was some sort of 3rd-party solution. I tried hooking up a silverstonetek SST-CPF04 fan hub, but all it allows me to do is power multiple fans from one header. Wishful thinking, I guess. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
