Recovering an old wallet...want to be very careful

    Posted: 24 Feb 2018 09:03 AM PST

I just hooked up a hard drive I used to store/have my old litecoin wallet on. the version was 0.08. I just spent overnight updating the blockchain on that, and I thought when it was fully synced, it would show my actual balance. I remember mining about 50-60, but it keeps showing zero. So I downloaded the most recent update on litecoin.org. before the old wallet synced, I saved a wallet.dat file.

Basically, I'm trying to figure out where my coins are, and how to utilize them. I'm here all day, so I can provide whatever info you want. Just want to make sure I didn't lose anything.

    Electrum-LTC segwit not really segwit?

    Posted: 24 Feb 2018 10:11 AM PST

I made a segwit wallet in Electrum-ltc and got a wallet address starting with 'ltc' and everything I read says that 'real' segwit uses wallet addresses starting with either a 3 or an M.

Further internet kanoodling says that these are bech32 addresses that aren't really segwit.

Several of the block explorers don't recognize it as a valid address, or show some other address:

    https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ltc/address.dws?wkh_6PG5SPO4ZORZYB3DAPLAONCDV6GCDR5W.htm

    vs

    https://chain.so/tx/LTC/ecab4f9d000a9f16ac116f6528a8a629b0964320be645ee0a27a6a28099f7dd4

So, how do I convert this to a usable real address?

(side rant, crypto will never reach mainstream adoption until it becomes more accessible and you don't have to spend hours reading online to figure out that some wallet software options shouldn't be used because no one else supports them. I mean, it's like friggin secret hand-shake stuff) <grumpy cat mode off>

Question about buying Litecoin with BTC/ETH.

    Posted: 24 Feb 2018 07:48 AM PST

Hello all, noob here with a question. I'm stuck in Verification hell with some exchanges, but I've managed to get a Gemini and Binance account. Through these two exchanges I've slowly been buying bits of a Litecoin with BTC and ETH.

I see people talking about Litecoin's value to bitcoin and it being higher than ever at .02 or something like that. Using Binance's "space shuttle dashboard" of a chart, I can see that value bounce around. My question is how do I tell which crypto has a better buying power/value to Litecoin? Considering my situation, I can only buy BTC and ETH at the moment, so I'm trying to decide which is better to use. I'm only buying small amounts so I want to save as much as possible in fees.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    I got tempted to sell....

    Posted: 24 Feb 2018 05:01 AM PST

But i'm still here, i bought 20% of my total capital invested in early november and i did the dumb mistake to buy the rest of my 80% right after the LTC breakout on last week without considering that btc was still fighting to break the trendline... I wake up, looked at the chart, and said in my mind "fuck is going down" i should have waited for the correction before buy again. i moved my LTC from the wallet to gdax and said to my wife "i'm going to sell" - "i'll buy later"

She said : "what? why?" Me: I'll save the investment till it's too late, if we break again i can re enter later but at least we don't lose money. She get mad af, she asked me to consider carefully my choice and to do not panic. if i sell the loss become real We had a discussion and she started to say that is a long game and we need patience and i'm not in the good condition to take decision today. From yesterday till this morning i had fever and that is making my FUD massive.

so she basically neutralized my FUD with a massive FOMO attack to protect our LTC

5 minutes later i moved my LTC back into the ledger.

Adoption continues with small firms but I feel a little left out...

    Posted: 24 Feb 2018 12:48 AM PST

I keep reading reddit posts about firms here and there now accepting LTC....I hold Litecoin and believe in the natural progression that crypto is to the world of the internet. I can't wait for the release of Litepay next week (and Charlie's massive surprise) because I want to go to my sandwich shop where I normally pay via contactless using my debit card but pay with Litecoin via my phone instead.

The trouble is... I want to be able to start taking payments for my services in LTC also... but being a financial adviser (uk) I am somewhat reliant (totally dependent) on big financial companies making payment to me on behalf of clients out of their pension for example and as you can guess... the institutions are not going to make payment in LTC from a clients pension or any other crypto anytime soon.

Anyone else in the same boat? What are others doing in this situation? It seems for now for me I am somewhat limited by what I can take payment for in LTC. Where is this area going to go I wonder...

    Cryptocurrency wallet on Iphone

    Posted: 24 Feb 2018 12:11 AM PST

Apple should implement a cryptocurrency wallet to the wallet app on the iphone. With the litepay coming up I think it would be amazing to have your litecoin on your phone. But does apple have the balls? What do you guys think?
