Exchange's process of managing wallets Posted: 24 Feb 2018 04:54 AM PST Any idea what are the processes that exchanges use to manage cryptocurrencies' wallets? Seems like a really complex task for managing hot wallets for even just 100k users. Not to mention that each blockchain have different implementation naunces. Wondering if anyone has insight into this. [link] [comments] |
Analysis of r/BitcoinMarkets daily discussion activity Posted: 23 Feb 2018 02:24 PM PST Hi all, I thought it might be interesting to take a look at how the activity in this subreddit has tracked the price of BTC in the past years. While a measurement of subscribers is an interesting and often used metric, I think a more interesting value to track is the number of comments on each daily discussion post. I wrote a short script utilizing PRAW in order to grab each daily discussion thread's total comment count (summing up continuation threads into a single value). Here's the script (quite hacky, don't trust my coding skills) as well as an edited .csv after cleaning up the output a bit. Here is a plot of the daily close of BTC against the number of comments in each daily. I smoothed the number of comments (span of 5) since it was quite variable, so it's better to get a clear picture of general trends instead of a super noisy plot. Also, note that both plots are on the log scale. One interesting thing I can immediately see is that while during 2014-2016 the number of comments seemed to follow a linear trend, the current trend of comments from 2017 on is sloping upwards (on a log scale!). Also, commenting activity reeealy bottomed out near the end of 2016, hitting a pretty sustained low for quite some time. I'm not sure exactly why. [link] [comments] |

Bitcoin death because of no profitable mining!? Posted: 24 Feb 2018 03:47 AM PST I have a question that whether mining profitability can change the bitcoin fate. I see many potentials for bitcoin and its exterem possible utility in future. However, some people refer to the fact that if the price hits below 5000$, it will be very dangerous for bitcoin since mining is not profitable anymore and no transaction can be done without mining . Considering the fact that it easily hit 6000$ around 20 days ago, do you see it feasible to see bitcoins death by hitting below 5k$!? [link] [comments] |
