Profits are down, be sure to shut your windows to retain profits in the form of heat. Posted: 02 Feb 2018 04:57 AM PST The time has come folks, I just had to shut my windows to maintain break even via heat retention. This is the time we choose sweat over comfort, the time we choose the long term over the short, the time we choose the suffering of our (now hot) GPU's for a brighter future. We will prevail, even if it means shutting every window in our homes. [link] [comments]

CryptoMiner - a geek's recipe to getting started with GPU mining Posted: 02 Feb 2018 12:37 AM PST Hey all, I maintain a collection of "geek recipes" for running popular self-hosted platforms on a docker swarm cluster. Over the Christmas break, I was off work and bored, and "accidentally" become interested in GPU mining, which I ended up enjoying far more than I expected - I'm now a happy n00b miner with a whole 3 GPUs! Although it doesn't use docker (yet), I decided to publish a recipe describing the process I followed, as a way of documenting my own journey and being able to share it. The recipe is here : https://geek-cookbook.funkypenguin.co.nz/recipies/cryptominer/ - I thought this sub would be interested in the contents, and would hopefully have some constructive criticism. Yours in hashrate, David [link] [comments]
What's the cause of the current correction? How do you evaluate the market? Posted: 02 Feb 2018 05:52 AM PST Pretty much the title... What research do you do to get a feel for the market. What variables affect the market and where do you get data on them? There seems to be so much horse shit out there :/ [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Feb 2018 04:18 AM PST this 1080Ti runs alone in a system (on a riser) and does EquiHash with just ~500 Sol/s I just wondered because my 1070Ti Rig, they do 480 Sol/s each and they run at 60% TDP .. my other 1080 Tis (another rig) hit easily >721 Sol/s so just this single one is not going over 500 - even with 100 TDP and heavy OC, the card is not going over 520 Sol/s (this one card is running in a regular used PC on a riser, temps are < 60°) Any ideas? edit: plugged the riser in another PCIe slot and the hashrate is normal again .. no idea why but works again [link] [comments]

Troubleshooting: Vega 56 / Error Code 43 Posted: 02 Feb 2018 07:42 AM PST I have successfully set up quite a few Vega cards but one is giving me problems. It is an XFX Reference Vega 56 with Samsung memory. The problem is that with the Aug. 23 blockchain drivers, this card won't enable in device manager. The computer will lag some while trying to enable but the device will still be disabled when it's done. Device manager details show an Error Code 43. After this happens it is not possible to overclock or mine with the card until next reboot or shutdown. The same thing happens with devcon.exe. I don't think my blockchain drivers are corrupted because the computer has 4 other Vegas and those are working fine. I tried DDU and reinstalling blockchain drivers, swapping risers, changing the card's bios switch, installing the card in different computers, etc. None of the above steps fixed the problem. What is interesting is that the card works fine with the standard Adrenaline drivers. While using the Adrenaline drivers I can disable/enable the card, apply overclock, and mine no problem. I was thinking of possible solutions and one that came to mind was using Adrenalin drivers for the problem card and using blockchain drivers for other cards in the same computer. However I do not know if it is possible to have different drivers for different Vegas in the same system. I tried changing drivers in device manager and it seems to apply the drivers to all Vegas. The only other solution I can think of is to run this problem card in a different system with no other Vegas and accept lower hash rate with Adrenaline Drivers. Anyone encounter this problem before and found a solution? I tested the card on 2 computers: System #1 specifications: CPU: Intel i3-8100 Mobo: Asus Prime Z370-A PSU #1: Corsair HX1200 PSU #2: Corsair RM1000i OS: Windows 10 Pro GPU: 6 x XFX Reference Vega 56s and 64s System #2 specifications: CPU: Intel i7-7700K Mobo: Asus Rog Strix Z270E PSU #1: Corsair AX860 PSU #2: Corsair RM1000i OS: Windows 10 Pro GPU: 3 x MSI Air Boost Vega 56s, PowerColor Reference Vega 64, XFX Reference Vega 56 [link] [comments]
2/6 GPUS give "This device cannot find enough free resources it can use (Code 12) in device manager Posted: 02 Feb 2018 07:38 AM PST 4/6 GPUs work just fine. 2/6 give this error message. It's the same 2 gpus each time too. They worked fine before, when I only had 4 of the GPUS plugged in and powered. This issue came up after I plugged in all 6. I have a brand new motherboard, i3 processor, 4g memory 6x 1070ti with Molex powered risers. anyone run into this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Feb 2018 07:20 AM PST So since GPUs are so hard to find a decent price I found 4 USB ASIC miners and I was curious what the hashrate/ payout per day looked like on one of them. I saw like 300-330hps but I'm not sure. What does a daily payment look like and would I be able to use the power of them on nicehash along side my 1070ti? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Feb 2018 06:38 AM PST I have been taking a look at the RX 460 and the RX 560. From what I have been told they should have the same hashrate. The main difference between the two seems to be that you can find the RX 560 with 4GB of memory. How much of a difference will the make in terms profit on NiceHash, and how much can I expect to make from these cards? [link] [comments]

What to use to monitor/control mining pc when gone? Posted: 02 Feb 2018 05:13 AM PST Yes yes i know team viewer exists, and i have used it. Its not really that great. I was thinking you guys might have some special apps i havent yet heard of? Or something. What do you use? Im gonna be gone for like 3 days, and well, i need something to adjust fans and check profitability and re optimize etc. [link] [comments]
HELP, about energy usage of a rig Posted: 02 Feb 2018 05:08 AM PST Hey so me and a mate run a 2 1070 rig at my house, im 15 and live with my parents they are against the rig, this quater the energy has went from 1380 kWh to 2380 kWh, the rig only pulls around 400w with 100 cpu 150 for each gpu at 75% power, and now they are demanding it off, im telling them that its something else, all the light on over christmas etc, is this the right way to calculate how much the miner uses, 400w x 24 = 9600/1000 = 9.6kWh/day x 35 (days running) = 336 kWh x £0.135 (kWh Price) = £45.36. More info, we are with E-on, we pay quartly the mining rig has been on for a month now the quartly bill is a extra roughly 1000 which is basically band on what it would use in 3 months, their saying its only been on for a month its gonna be 3x that at 3000 kWh [link] [comments]
watt usage for GPUs @whattomine accurate? what is with system power consumption? Posted: 02 Feb 2018 04:54 AM PST e.g. u take one 1080ti @whattomine the watt usage will be for equihash like 190watts. If u take two it will just double, or with three cards just tripple. But what is with the "system" (motherboard, cpu, ram, fans...), they also consume power.. [link] [comments]
whattomine calculation with more than 7days or even specific periods e.g. november 2016 Posted: 02 Feb 2018 04:41 AM PST is there an option on whattomine to specify a specific time range or some option to calc with more than the last 7 days? [link] [comments]
Large sol/s difference between cards but similar found shares? Posted: 02 Feb 2018 03:23 AM PST I have an R9 280X running ~280sol/s on Claymore and a 1050 Ti with ~195sol/s on EBWF, both mining in Equihash. But somehow the total shares found are very similar. Moreover, sometimes the slower card get more shares than the faster card. Right now it's 824 shares for 1050 Ti and only 797 shares for the 280X after 4 hours of mining. Anybody has any idea why this happens? [link] [comments]
Surge protector turning mining rig all the time, but... Posted: 02 Feb 2018 03:05 AM PST Hello, I have two 6 x 570 4g mining rigs. The two use the same brand of surge protector with same capacity. But one surge protector is "disarming" all the time like there's a surge, but the other one works fine. I think there's a problem with the surge protector. The question: is it too dangerous to turn the mine rig on directly. without the surge protector ? Anyone doing that ? (I dont want to lose one entire rig while I dont fix the problem) [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Feb 2018 11:15 PM PST I recently got a 1080ti to replace my 1070 and decided to hookup he 1070 on a riser to mine while I'm gaming. However, I've noticed that when both GPUs are mining there is a rather high pitched and loud (like hear it two rooms away loud) whine from the GTX 1080 ti. The odd part is that this noise does not seem to be coming from the fans (stops when fans are run at same speed through afterburner) and is present only when both cards are active. Does anyone know what may be causing this issue? My PSU is a 650W Rosewill quark if that makes any difference. [link] [comments] |
