    Small amounts left on exchanges

    Posted: 28 Jan 2018 09:31 AM PST

So inevitably when moving between different currencies sometimes a small amount gets left over as it's behond the exchange minimum limit for the given currency. Whilst this 'dust' might seem minimal for the individual just think about when all that 'dust' from everyone gets added together? That's not an insignificant amount that the exchange essentially gets to keep, invest etc.

For example on HitBTC Ripple must be traded in whole units. So if you have 0.5 XRP remaining it's basically lost as it would cost 0.509 to move it elsewhere. Imagine if the price of XRP shot up that could become quite a bit of stuck money...

So my question is; how do people minimise this?

Centralization of our coin will be key to its adoption.

    Posted: 28 Jan 2018 01:50 PM PST

A lot of people shit on Ripple for being somewhat centralized, and having a CEO. What they don't realize is Ripple will be one of the first to get regulated and churned through the SEC. This will be a good for long term growth. Because of its centralized nature, the courts and SEC will see Ripple as a security interest where investors are attracted to invest in order to share in profits and risks arising from the managerial decisions of the CEO. I think investors see this potential in Ripple as being very "regulatable" compared to other coins. (Contrast with Bitcoin and Monero's structure and you see why those coins' futures are more complicated).

Price movements of XRP and BTC

    Posted: 28 Jan 2018 10:11 AM PST

Just like most of you I check prices every single hour (I know it's unhealthy) and I feel like the xrp price has become kind of independent from the Bitcoin price. Of course all of the big coins still have similar movements, they fall and rise together, but the charts look different now. A few weeks ago I felt like the charts looked exactly the same. I think this is an important step to reaching independence from eth and btc but I'm more of a crypto noob lel. Could someone explain to me why this is so important? Thanks

    Moving to paper wallet

    Posted: 28 Jan 2018 01:11 PM PST

    Hi all

I've got a bit of ripple on an exchange I'd like to secure into my own wallet. I'd like to have a paper wallet created which I can then lock away for a while.

However, if I create a new wallet and transfer to it, do I have to keep the original 20xrp on the exchange? And what happens when I send it back to the exchange for sale? Do I lose 20xrp which sticks with the paper wallet?

    Potential hack / social engineering??

    Posted: 28 Jan 2018 02:20 PM PST

I have been getting random texts on my iphone from people I don't know recently that seems they are mid-conversation with someone else. No one is asking for my personal information but is this any known method for some sort of social engineering method trying to get me to call my service provider and make some change that could potentially give someone access to accounts I have connected to my phone number?

I use 2FA with all my account so I think I should be okay... wondering if anyone has ever seen or heard of this sort of thing.

Any Aussies here had issues with buying XRP or hassles from banks in general?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2018 12:47 AM PST

I read a thread on r/australia a few weeks ago about a guy who was getting his account frozen from purchasing bitcoin and there was a could over whether BTC could fall afoul of the financing regulations. Are there any aussies here who have bought XRP? any issues from the bank? would i have to try get BTC and convert or is there a way to go straight in on XRP?
