A Central Banker's Opinions On Bitcoin

    Posted: 28 Jan 2018 01:09 PM PST

I've been watching a few of the Davos 2018 panels recently and Bitcoin has popped up as a topic several times. Interestingly it's always the most well received topic. But in any case, an ECB executive board member was asked about Bitcoin, and here's he's answer. https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@kjnk/a-central-banker-s-opinions-on-bitcoin

PSA: Market Cap does not reflect how many dollars enter or leave the market.

    Posted: 28 Jan 2018 05:17 AM PST

I have been reading so many conspiracy theories about USDT and most involve a fundamental misunderstanding of market cap. Rising market cap does not mean dollars enter the market and falling market cap does not mean dollars are leaving the market. Here is a very simple example to illustrate why:
If for some reason EVERYONE woke up and wanted to get rid of their BTC (but NO ONE wanted to buy), the price would begin to drop as traders undercut each other and the market cap would go down. However, no money has left or entered the market.
Market cap simply reflects the cost of buying the entire token supply at current market value. It does not tell you about money entering or leaving the system.

Alert for when a new coin is offered on an exchange?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2018 07:20 PM PST

Does any one know how to set up an alert for when a new coin is offered on an exchange. Example; if/when XRB gets offered/added to binance is there a way I can get an alert for it?

    Thanks!

Public Service Announcement - ALWAYS SAVE YOUR PRIVATE KEYS!

    Posted: 28 Jan 2018 10:17 AM PST

TL;DR - ALWAYS save your private keys!

I almost had a heart attack after the last 48 hours.

I was messing around with my Ledger Nano S, cleaning up some random Alt Coins and transferring them from exchanges/wallets I've used here and there. I wanted everything in one spot instead of having to remember constantly where I put which coin, the password to the exchange or wallet, etc.

Then I got to my sweet sweet baby NEO, which I bought in at $15 after they rebranded from Antshares, right now she is at $147.

For those of you that don't know about NEO the longer you hold it in an exchange or wallet you can generate and collect GAS, which is used to make transfers free with NEO. Check it out. Anyway awhile ago you could only transfer whole integers, I had something like .897 GAS and wanted to leave it in a random Neon wallet to get to 1 GAS then transfer over.

Well being the holidays and everything the last month I naturally became busy and just kind of forgot about the 200, yes 200 NEO in a random Neon wallet… Yea dumb as fuck I know.

Well at some point over the last month I decided to delete all my cookies not thinking about the random wallet with 200 Neo on it, where I didn't save the private key. Yea you can see where this is going. Well windows did an update a few days ago which effectively deleted all of my previous PC's recovery points. I deleted Cookies on Chrome, so no record of private keys there….

I am freaking out, googling and seeing results where everyone is basically telling me I am FUCKED. So I decide to just chill, go to work and try not to think about the $30,000 I just lost being a dumb ass, to make $40 on one GAS. Chalk it up as a massive lesson learned.

Then I am driving home and have a thought, maybe just maybe my dumb ass took a picture of the private key with my cellphone, I check through my photos and see nothing. I was about to chalk this one up as a loss…

8-10 hours later I took a photo of my dog being cute and noticed it uploaded automatically to Amazon Prime Photos… HOLY FUCK! I immediately get on Amazon Photos, scroll through to the date where I made the temp wallet. OH SHIT THERE SHE IS.

I found my fucking private key only to the Amazon cloud. THANK YOU JESUS. Now she is safe on my Ledger Nano S.

This is a public service announcement to always SAVE YOUR PRIVATE KEYS EVERY TIME.

Post here your low market cap coins to get into at the rebound (my picks: FDX, PRL, WISH, OPT, SNOV, XBL, WAND, MTX - see in the description why)

    Posted: 28 Jan 2018 07:39 AM PST

I did not write much for a while as I have been buying and selling different alts but luckily I am already just a bit up from before the crash.

I believe this day we are breaking out the 12K resistance and ETH already went 10% up which means in my opinion that we could see an altcoin bull run again; so here my best picks for fast growth recovery coins and long potential growth/hold:

    • FDX 52M: World's 1st Marketplace for Tradable Insurance Policies; tackling a trillion dollar industry. Went down around 60% during the crash. They are very close on getting to a new exchange and are now starting to work on their marketing efforts. short-term potential for 3x

    • PRL 73M: Changing the way of monetizing websites with banner ads and distributing storage. This coin was one of the rising stars before the crash but went totally down 27K to 10K. It has been already trying to break out a few times again but afterwards a quick sell off by people that were taking their losses (people that bought in at 20K btc). Safe choice and I see short-term potential for 2x

    • WISH 13M: A library of smart contracts and marketplace where you can create/take without any programming skills your crypto herritage, wedding, kid savings contract etc. Went from 16K to 6.5K; a full cycle down. Short term potential to 4/5x.

    • OPT 10,5M: The first decentralized music platform, competing with Voise 35M but their team and whitepaper looks more serious. Went from 1500 to 600 now is on HitBTC and only and has fixed orders which made it difficult to break out. Now the market is picking up I believe it can break out again and then it can go really fast.

    • SNOV 41M: first decentralized lead generation platform. Went full cycle down from 2500 to 900 btc. In Q1 they will have their new marketplace launch and have already more than 18K people that downloaded their chrome extension.

    • XBL 1.2M: Decentralized gamble games on the blockchain with token burn deflationary mechanism to keep increasing the value of the coin. This coin went from 11k to 3K and is truly a high risk/ high reward coin, when it takes off then you 10x potential but in the same case it stays at this current level.

    • Wand 7.5M: Smart contract architecture enabling seamless creation and trade of any ERC20 Token or combination of them. This coin has a super low market cap still as it is only on ED but they are close to a new exchange and in March they are launching their pilot marketplace. Then this coin can go towards a 150M cap.

    • MTX 23M: Collaborative Research & Development Engine decentralized platform combined with VR where the coins are used as bounty rewards. This coin is so low because it is at this moment only on ED and what many people don't know is that the circulating supply is 23M/ total supply 34M, while on CMC it still says 300M

Other coins that I own and definitely worth looking into as well but some already increased very fast but still all low caps and many room to grow: BPT, ARY, AIX, ELT, B2B, GET, BLUE, ATL)

    Posted: 28 Jan 2018 05:29 PM PST

BTC price on BTC/Coinbase on Tradingview is plummeting.

Anybody know why? It seems to be an 'irregular' drop, even in crypto terms.
