Why is the network being clogged by a single normal address?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 11:05 AM PST

Anyone know what this is about?
    https://etherscan.io/address/0xf08bdf21373a09ab7edd7769a402d3a22826d317

It's a normal address using up about 18% of all gas on the network.

    UPDATE:
It's at 9% now, and another normal address with similar transactions has crept up to 6% overtaking etherdelta. https://etherscan.io/txs?a=0xa620958b0f7d59ed764e77423960a3cb9321680b

PSA: don't trust your (on screen) Keyboard/IME - also currently use the cipher browser only with minimal value accounts

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 07:56 AM PST

Was just trying out the cipher browser. One thing that was really making me cringe and writing this PSA was that it forced me to enter my seed words (even in order) after the account creation.

In android the on-screen keyboard is just another program outside the context of your app (https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/text/creating-input-method.html) - you can even install 3rd party keyboards. These keyboards can easily detect the input of seed-words and send them home (theirs) to empty your account later.

A solution for the cipher-browser can be to use 24 seed words and ask for them in random order. With 12 seed words you can go through all permutations in little time (<1day)

Venturi Formula E sponsored by Ethereum

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 08:28 AM PST

Does anyone have any information on the Ethereum sponsorship on the Venturi team's Formula E cars in the Marrakesh E-Prix today? Both cars say "Ethereum" with the coin logo but I can't find any mention of it on the interwebs

Who else think that Poloniex fees for ETH withdraw are crazy? 0.01ETH is 14.00 USD the moment. Transactions with fee of 0.002ETH come through just fine.

How is NEO able to implement PoS ?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 05:36 PM PST

I've heard Vitalik mentioned that PoS is not easy to implement and requires solving complex game theory problems. I know NEO is using a slightly different version of PoS (dBFT). Why did Ethereum not implement PoS sooner ?

Solutions and Discussion of the "Oracle Problem"

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 02:42 PM PST

Hi! I am exploring the smart contract space, and I've come face to face with the "Oracle Problem". My contract needs to get data from a web API. An external oracle can push this data to my contract, but, this oracle becomes a point of centralization. My contract and its users must trust the results of the oracle.

What are some interesting solutions to the oracle problem? What do you all think of its implications for the practical value of smart contracts?

    Casper Testnet

    Posted: 12 Jan 2018 10:37 PM PST

I'm trying to get some information as to what's up with the Casper Testnet. Looking at the stats page (http://34.203.42.208:3000), it's still not recovered from the problem that arose shortly after launch.

Any insights as to where we're at?

What will be estimated number of transaction per day in a year(2019) considering plasma and casper.

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 08:34 PM PST

say we succesfully roll out casper and plasma or other scaling solution, what will be the estimated number of transactions per day. we should have a projected number of tx per day to effectively scale.

Sent transaction from bitstamp to blockchain.info wallet , please help!

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 04:28 PM PST

I sent a transaction from bitstamp to blockchain.info and I cant find it yet even tho it said processed an hour ago on bitstamp. I cant find it using the txid or the recieving address. I'm pretty sure its because bitstamp uses smart contracts and blockchain doesn't. So how can I get this ethereum? should I export the keys on the blockchain wallet and import into another wallet that accepts these contracts like MEW or what should I do? please help.

    Regarding Scalability

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 01:57 PM PST

How will sharding exactly help to scale Ethereum transactions? It is true that total number of transactions will be proportional with O(c2) because of shards, but the chances that the person you are trying to transact with will be in your shard is 1/number_of_shards. That means that total throughput should remain the same.

Sending a transaction with high gas.

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 01:46 PM PST

If I want to send a transaction with crazy high gas limit, how would I do that? Can I use MEW or is there some limit in it? And do I have to set only the gas limit high or also the gwei (higher than MEW allows)?

If I set the gas limit extraordinary high, it would only take the amount which is needed or take all of it?

Any help would greatly be appreciated, thank you.
