Why we need to adopt the pure green circle Bitcoin Cash logo. Please read.

    Posted: 12 Jan 2018 09:03 PM PST

There's been a lot of discussion about logos and colors and different ideas popping up. I've had a few different opinions myself, but having more discussion, /u/Time_Value_of_Money has swayed me into wanting to adopt the pure circle green logo like Coinbase.

First, please take a look at the logo on Coinmarketcap.com. It does not fit. It does not look good. It looks weak. Take another look here: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DTZJp7_WkAASn7l.jpg:large Also looks very weak and appearing smaller than its counterparts. We want the full circle and full size B. We want the logo to be as big and as bold as possible.

    /u/Time_Value_of_Money explains...

A rectangle is not a good use of square screen real estate - see the BCH logo on the front-page of coinmarketcap.com. A [green] circular logo, or at least more "square" logo fits limited screen real estate better.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoincash/comments/7q0sbg/does_anyone_else_find_the_new_round_background_in/dsluq2p/

I agree I like the pure circle. Coinbase green pastel circle to be exact. Coinmarketcap and others will look to r/Bitcoincash as a "reference". The logo we champion is a lighthouse to the broader world. Our decision on logo style and color matters here.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoincash/comments/7q0sbg/does_anyone_else_find_the_new_round_background_in/dslvaay/

Yes! Exactly! A rectangle is a poor use of "square" or "circular" screen real estate.

Moreover, we need to use green as a means to differentiate. I am convinced Coinbase has done it's due diligence on choosing a purely circular green pastel logo.

Orange is a disliked color by most people. Remember, our audience is NOT current BCH or former BTC users, it is people who do not own a single satoshi. Second, I can't find the source, but I recall seeing research pastel colors like Coinbase's are more welcoming than darker colors.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoincash/comments/7q0sbg/does_anyone_else_find_the_new_round_background_in/dslvq61/

These reasons have me completely convinced that we should adopt the pure green circle with upward tilted "B" as the logo for Bitcoin Cash similar or the same to how Coinbase presents it. We should apply it to /r/bitcoincash and get Coinmarketcap to change it ASAP.

It was more than a full-house at Beijing's first BitcoinCash Meetup today, with a turn-up of over 80 attendees, including enthusiasts, users, developers and miners. All attendees enthusiastically discussed, bought and even used BCH (to pay for drinks).

    Reason for BCH spike?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 06:08 AM PST

Just wondering if this is due to Coinbase Europe adopting BCH?

At risk of beating a dead horse, what does this sub-reddit think of grey-scaling our header background?

At risk of beating a dead horse, what does this sub-reddit think of grey-scaling the header background? The "green" sunrise is bothering me.

See examples below (please pardon my poor photo editing skills):

    Your thoughts?

Blockchain CEO: Central Banks Will Hold Bitcoin and Ether in 2018.

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 08:10 AM PST

Peter Smith, the CEO of Blockchain, the second most widely utilized cryptocurrency wallet behind Coinbase, stated that central banks will begin to hold major digital currencies like bitcoin and Ethereum's native token Ether in 2018.

"I think this year will be the first year we start to see central banks start to hold digital currencies as part of their balance sheet. Bitcoin is already a top 30 currency by supply, and this trend, and pressure to hold digital currency as part of reserves will only accelerate as the price rises," said Smith.

Bitcoin Candy is nothing more than strategic marketing by Coinex (it's good business, but not good economics)

    Posted: 12 Jan 2018 08:26 PM PST

Coinex is a new exchange (launched last month) and only trades BCH pairs.

Coinex is using Bitcoin Candy as a marketing strategy to encourage people to deposit BCH into Coinex wallets. Notice how your Bitcoin Candy is immediately available on Coinex (for BCH held there), but no other exchange supports it.

Even more telling, there are no Bitcoin Candy futures and no price discovery at the moment.

Bitcoin Candy is purely Coinex marketing. Not a criticism of Coinex - it's good business strategy.

However, the economics of the coin is poor, and it will likely flop due to low on-chain and exchange volume. There is effectively no wallet support, no exchange support, no network effect.

Edit: Here is CDY's price https://www.coinex.com/trading?currency=bch&dest=cdy&tab=limit

    CDYBCH: 0.00006202

Or about $0.15 per CDY. Since each BCH is entitled to 1000 CDY, the "windfall" to BCH owners is roughly $150, or a 6% "dividend".

Not bad. Moreover, I suspect CDY will only have decent liquidity on on Coinex, so this should be good marketing for Coinex to attract CDY sellers / "dumpers". Invariably, some of these "dumpers" will stick around and trade BCH pairs.

    Thanks /u/trader94

Edit 2: My base case for Bitcoin Candy's price is - in broad strokes - it will follow the price trajectory of Bitcoin Gold from last year.

Initial sell-off for a few weeks, one large bull rally within the next two months, then a slow-grid and trickle lower in price as the liquidity evaporates.

Of course, I reserve the right to update my forecast as new information presents itself in the future.

    cloud mining question

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 10:15 AM PST

Mid Dec 2017. I purchased a bitcoin cloud mining contract at 1794$usd. 4TH. I thought id be doing 10$ per day and calculated that id make my money back in 6month and the rest would be profit. At that time i dint know that the difficulty adjustment would change the price profit. All the mining calculator ive seen dosnt factor in difficulty projection. Will I make my money back or was that a loosing proposition? (I mine either BTC or BCH depending on profitability "automated switch")

Reason why bch chart is so weird?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 04:06 AM PST

    It consolidates and it's good.

But bch pumps and drops so fast compared with other major altcoins

For example about week ago it went 2850 for no reason in like 30 minute and dumped back

Why this particularly happen in bch?
