Withdrawal was returned by my bank. Kraken support is nowhere to be found.

    Posted: 03 Jan 2018 02:51 AM PST

My bank returned the withdrawn funds because they said Payward Ltd must be explicitly added to my "safe list". Long story short, my funds have been returned to Kraken but they don't show up in my EUR balance. The folks at Kraken haven't answered in 4 days.

I created a ticket on the day my bank notified me, and requested that the relevant department be notified, but I got nothing back.

    1) Anyone know why a European bank thinks Payward Ltd is "unsafe"?

    2) How do we get Kraken Support to resolve this?

When does it become profitable for BTC mining pools to 51% attack BCH?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2018 07:18 AM PST

Saw this post from IOTA's lead cryptographer, the one supposed to be a genius:

    https://notehub.org/nz8d0

The one part I don't follow is his conclusion that the attacker would profit from shorting crypto because all of the exchanges would be annihilated. Why? Maybe I'm just dense, but if all the ordinary BCH deposits to exchanges never happened, neither did the withdrawals. So they would only suffer losses of BCH deposits in excess of BCH withdrawals made during blocks that were reorged. This could be a moderate BCH swing in either direction for the exchange's assets, but unless the exchange is primarily dependent on BCH for trade volume (are there any?) it's hard to see it buckling especially given that BCH price would swiftly plummet to zero. Sure other cryptos especially BTC would see insane volatility but I'm not understanding why honest non-frontrunning exchanges would take the hit rather than BCH holders. Even the attacker's BCH that he deposits, sells and then cashes out while he is reorging in secret are now being bagheld by users. How is the exchange's position affected? Even the author seems to assume that some exchanges will still be available for this attacker's short collateral to be redeemed. Unless the author was referring to the regulated US futures, in which case the attacker would go to jail.

All in all it seems that the conclusion of the article should have been that 51% attack would make BCH --> 0 assuming China cartel doesn't/can't rush to defend it (so watch for Dragon or other groups?), rather than the overblown assumption that all of crypto is at risk.

Also, even if some of my details are off, it seems a little preposterous that every single crypto exchange is so greedy and nearsighted as to risk the whole show falling apart and regulatory banhammers coming down everywhere, especially when (as the author shows) the attack is so cheap a good % of the time.

EDIT: Could e.g. Antpool flood the exchanges with BCH deposits but NOT sell them just so the exchanges have to take a huge haircut or else go broke? Then short BTC on CBE? Volume necessary would be pretty obvious though.

Does any exchange support simultaneous stop loss (SELL STOP) & take profit (SELL LIMIT), whichever comes first?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2018 10:18 PM PST

everything I've seen removes pending trades from your available balance. Another advanced feature that seems unlikely and would mos likely require you to use api is trades conditional on other trades executing.

So what did USA do to join this wonderful list of countries?

Also, OKEX may not make all of the Services available in all markets and jurisdictions, and may restrict or prohibit use of all or a portion of the Services from Restricted Locations, which at this time include Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Sudan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Ecuador, Kyrgyzstan, and United States of America.

    GDAX problem

    Posted: 03 Jan 2018 09:43 AM PST

Hi, I recently placed a small limit sell order on GDAX and it was sold (as it can be seen on the Fills section). The problem is even it is reflected, the money didn't add to my balance. Anyone please could help me?? Thanks a lot.

A first version of Rootstock is released today

    Posted: 03 Jan 2018 08:48 AM PST

As I understand it, you need to prepay anything you plan to do with RSK. Each prepay costs $20 and takes hours. It is a centralised second layer hiding behind the marketing claim that prepayments are settled on "the most secure blockchain".

If true, what's the point of Rootstock compared to Ethereum (no prepayment, cheaper, faster (microRaiden allows for thousands of transactions per second there))?

Marketability and differentiation between clean and "mixed" coins

    Posted: 03 Jan 2018 08:06 AM PST

Who is talking about, and where can i find people analyzing differences between clean, mixed, or coins tagged in suspicious activities?

An address holding 10 btc from coinbase is not worth the same to me as a 10 btc address mixed and making me worry who will accept my coins.

Someone must be taking advantage of this value difference at the exchanges, because 1btc is not the same as the next.

Has anyone though what this does to the market cap of btc, or the quality of the coins actually owned by some of our bitcoin millionaires?

Are there similar situations in other places in the world? A million dollars owned by a drug smuggler is not the same as million owned by Bill Gates. How does this affect currency and value analysis?

Why does the BTC price rise and alts go down after every alt rally?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2018 11:01 AM PST

Are experience people here expecting a BTC run up followed by a sea of red alt sale?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2018 09:41 PM PST

Nobody seems to be talking about it much and am wondering what more experienced people have to say on it. I know some people expect a mid Jan correction/dip. Want to take a sizeable position but thinking better to wait or just buy btc right now and move into alts when theyre on sale.

Is there a need for another crypto chart?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2018 06:24 PM PST

I have been developing a few projects lately including a cryptocurrency aggregator. I was going to take a shot competing with coinmarketcap but I am not entirely sure if there is even a need there and I don't want to waste time developing something that will not be used/needed.

I am a fullstack backend web developer with responsive frontend development experience. Are there any tools you would like to use/see created?

If there are any teams/individuals looking for a developer feel free to DM I am currently looking for any opportunity to quit freelancing to work on projects like this.

Can we push Bitfinex to serve their customers?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2018 03:18 PM PST

1, Bitfinex support utterly fails at serving their customers recently.

2, Users with serious issues (locked accounts, money disappeared upon cancelled withdrawal) have been waiting for weeks with zero response.

3, Even worse, Bitfinex doesn't communicate anything about what they are planning to extend support capacity or when they expect to be able to address the tickets.

See https://www.reddit.com/r/bitfinex/comments/7nhl3b/im_locked_out_for_lost_2fa_when_will_they_support/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/bitfinex/comments/7jv983/tickets/ for example.

Are there enough Bitcoin fans here to show Bitfinex that

    • this behavior from a major exchange is unacceptable to our community;
    • we want a reliable support;
    • while we understand keeping up with the growth is sometimes challenging, but we still demand clear communication even in these times?

Please upvote to show your support. Thanks.
