Starbucks CEO says they plan to accept digital currencies, but NOT Bitcoin BTC.

    Posted: 27 Jan 2018 12:49 AM PST

Starbucks Chairman Howard Shultz said the coffee chain plans to incorporate blockchain technology and digital currencies into its long-term payment technology strategy, and hopes to "expand digital customer relationships."

Shultz does not, however, believe that bitcoin will play a role in this strategy, remarking that he didn't believe the original cryptocurrency would "be a currency today or in the future."

ICX - ICON - Roadmap on pamphlet

    Posted: 26 Jan 2018 08:20 PM PST

You start with $1000 on Jan 1 and are only allowed 5 trades. What trade sequence will net you the most money?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2018 05:39 PM PST

Just a little fun game to distract us.

Let's say that at the stroke of midnight on January 1st you invest $1000 into a coin. Let's see who can find the best 5 trade sequence to earn the most money by January 26th.

    Rules:

    • Your first purchase of a coin counts as your first trade. It must January 1, 12 AM UTC.
    • Using a BTC / ETH / whatever as an intermediate currency does not count as trade. This is why I am just listing USD value
    • You can't convert back to USD and wait, you need to buy/sell within the same minute
    • You can use any time during January 26 UTC as your "cash out" value (this does not count as a trade)

Here's mine (using Coin Market Cap)

Buy Date Coin USD Rate Coin Total Sell Date USD Rate USD Total
    Jan 1 0:00 TRX 0.04 22,380.38 Jan 5 2:24 0.30 6,722.24
    Jan 5 2:24 PRL 1.63 4,124.07 Jan 7 9:04 4.85 20,001.75
    Jan 7 9:04 DBC 0.27 74,582.74 Jan 9 22:49 0.66 49,124.15
    Jan 9 22:49 WTC 14.65 3,353.18 Jan 13 5:19 43.34 145,327.00
    Jan 13 5:19 CND .13 1,152,766.72 Jan 26 6:34 0.32 363,659.86

That turns 1,000 into 363,659.86 in 26 days.

    Who can find something better?

EDIT 1: Replacing DBC with DNA:

Buy Date Coin USD Rate Coin Total Sell Date USD Rate USD Total
    Jan 1 0:00 TRX 0.04 22,380.38 Jan 5 2:24 0.30 6,722.24
    Jan 5 2:24 PRL 1.63 4,124.07 Jan 7 9:04 4.85 20,001.75
    Jan 7 9:04 DNA 0.57 34,869.16 Jan 8 23:44 2.01 70,087.00
    Jan 8 23:44 WTC 15.29 4,583.85 Jan 13 5:19 43.34 198,663.88
    Jan 13 5:19 CND .13 1,528,183.70 Jan 26 6:34 0.32 489,018.79

    Now we're at 489,018.79

EDIT 2: Remembered Dentacoin and the recent IOST moon

Buy Date Coin USD Rate Coin Total Sell Date USD Rate USD Total
    Jan 1 0:00 TRX 0.04 22,380.38 Jan 5 2:24 0.30 6,722.24
    Jan 5 2:24 DCN .0007 9,575,836.39 Jan 7 18:59 0.0083 79,163.44
    Jan 7 18:59 ADST .67 118,405.69 Jan 13 21:34 2.30 272,333.09
    Jan 13 21:34 CND .12 2,284,520.22 Jan 23 1:19 0.35 799,582.08
    Jan 23 1:19 IOST .03 25,413,408.72 Jan 26 2:24 0.11 2,706,832.99

    That'll give us 2,706,832.99

    Think anyone made that trade?

Oyster (PRL) - TestNet A Update

    Posted: 26 Jan 2018 03:14 PM PST

    https://medium.com/oysterprotocol/oyster-pearl-team-update-3-8e29aa08aab5

This is great news. For the first time, PRL will allow completely secure uploads and retrieval from the TestNet A, which is launching on January 31st. This will truly test the strength of IOTA's Tangle in a real-world application.

The team, still growing, has met all deadlines and promises to the community so far this year. We are to see much more in the near future; just check out the website roadmap!

With all of crypto currently down, it's important to ask yourself why you are investing in the coins you are in. I've been in PRL for a while now (16 minutes)(just kidding, it's been a month or so), and it's one of the investments I trust the most, so I have not sold a drop of it during all of this. At only an 80M market cap, now's a great time to get in.

As always, do your own research, and best of luck hodlers.

Buying the rumor. Upcoming news thread!

    Posted: 26 Jan 2018 06:18 PM PST

I've had some great luck in this sideways market playing solely off rumors and news releases. With everything standing still, it's basically hype alone that makes a coin go up. Made 15% on Strat, 25% on XRB today ,and 40% on DNA last night solely due to the rumor mill. Wanted to start a thread to not only shill everything I currently own, but also pick up new rumors I may want to get into.

DNA: Already had the news of Kucoin release (I sold at peak, but bought more a few hours ago), but should keep going up due to rumors of product release and 2 new major partners coming Monday.

DRGN: Incubator release today and rumors of more coming on Monday.

AION: At the ICX Summit coming Jan 31st. Also rumors of major announcement prior to it.

COSS: New engine Feb 1st. Great dev update today.

DBC: At San Francisco conference tonight. Rumors of an update on Monday (CMO is currently in South Korea)

LUX: Rumors of new wallet release coming tomorrow (this coin is awesome, but the wallets have been absolute garbage, so this is bigger news than it sounds like)

XBY: Another stress test tomorrow, this time using some of their actual patented tech. If it goes well, this will skyrocket (see XRB)

HPB: Stanford conference on the 31st. This one is a super moonshot, but has a boatload of potential. Riskiest pick on here for sure.

Would love to hear about any other upcoming milestones for coins. I know ENG is at NEO con next week and I expect it to go up, but I think I'm going to try sniping that Monday. Not expecting any action this weekend.

Bitcoin is like the Nasdaq Composite Index: Everyone involved in Crypto should want Bitcoin to succeed, even if you dislike it

    Posted: 26 Jan 2018 02:31 PM PST

In the current environment, Bitcoin controls more than just itself. It is the base currency of the entire movement. It can be seen first hand in big markets like Binance and Bittrex. And it can also be seen as a whole on sites like CoinMarketCap.

FUD and Shilling is one thing, but when it comes to Bitcoin it can be detrimental. You see it all the time on subreddits, social media, and online articles. Its Bitcoin vs the world. It boils down to people who got in early vs people who wish they did.

Between Ethereum Bros and BitCoinCash Joes, and everyone else in between. I highly suggest that in this volatile climate, end the war on Bitcoin. Don't bash it. Change the conversation. We all know from a tech standpoint, it isn't the best. Praise the developers. Focus on lightning network. Support the impact of what BitCoin has done.

In a world where Bitcoin is flourishing, everyone involved in Crypto wins. This is just my take. Thanks for reading

Coinbase Olga, Coinbase Dan, please help: $20,000 wire deposit to my Coinbase wallet since 12/21

    Posted: 26 Jan 2018 07:46 AM PST

Hi all, at 73 you can still be a "newb" apparently - But in my case, a jumpy schmuck. Hope this route can help me. Heres my story: I jumped quite hastily into the btc action and had to pay the price. However, I've been rather patient, but we're getting nervous. I wired funds to my coinbase account after getting the green light to do so via identity checks and all that. Same names, got the accounts verified. All things seem to check out. but the wire never landed. I followed their instructions on how to inquire then escalate the issue but didn't realize i was creating new tickets all the while. Embarrasingly here they all are (last one's first):

    3506671, Jan 20- 3506254 , Jan 19- 3343761, Jan 09- 3314937, Jan 05- 3256021, Jan 18- 3255788, Jan 02

I honestly had no idea i was digging my own grave with each inquiry.

I realize this was idiotic but I never got a human response. I decided to finally call on 1/20. She was ok but sternly reminded me not to start any more tickets. Fair enough. I've learned alot from this process but would really appreciate some kind of indication that the wire's been identified, or something.

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Please upvote.
